Maybe a basic explanation

But can anyone tell me the point of a hcap when only 3 of them have a chance on paper

Sheff 1507 most obvious example

5/1
6/4
6/4
25
25
25

Back dogs making up next to no ground, pointless.

Only tuned into this guff for obvious reasons!

Could lay them at 25s and stop moaning maybe Laugh

Don't mind 4 and 6 bend handicaps but this is a 2 bend one and no such race should exist imo.

HGS.........Sheffield are one of the biggest offenders of putting on 2 bend nonsense.

Yeah, Sheffield and Sunderland sparrow. Never really been a sprint fan and there are enough of level start 2 bends which are bad enough. Suppose the bookies can't get enough of em.

Sparrow id have to join you bar one single point.

If i had my way there would be none of them, but IF i was forced to stage them somewhere it would be Sheff

Chance to go wide and swoop late etc

But FFS youve got to get the grading right

Making 4,5,6 20/1 20/1 20/1 is complete and utterly pointless, basically to put it a different way, there needs to be a serious issue in the race if any of the back 3 are to be involved, which is awful.

HGS.... No such thing when I started backing dogs in the 60s except for one competition at Southend called the Silver Salver. People then would never have put up with that sort of thing although flapping tracks might have a few of them.

Indeed they did sparrow. My local flap, Warwick, at the time did sprints amongst 4 bends but can't recall too many at the Green or other ngrc tracks at the time.

This morning alone we have seen Henlow 1, Perry Barr 3, Sheffield & Central Park 6 apiece ffs Cry

And worst of all, over ALL the racing day & night today, I can see just the 2 six bend races. Sad

I feel sorry for owners with graded ability dogs who need 6 bends but have to run over 4 . It's not that long ago that Wimbledon went right down to S5 grade over 6 bends. Tracks even had graded events over marathon trips at one time and I have an old 8 race programme at home from Romford with 4 races over 6 bends, 3 over 4 bends and 1 over 8 bends and all graded!
