The races i play in i price the race to as near 100 % as i can. I know wot i want to bet. I live and die by my prices. Not evry1 does it that way but most lads who i respect greatly on here do the same.

Remember you saying you only play in certain races and back accordingly
No easy business trying to make a living out of such an unpredictable sport but take my hat off to you lads who keep the wolf from the door

There are a lot of 33/1 n 50/1 shots these days irish as the pool of open race dogs get smsller. I only bet on open races. In the last couple of yrs open races are less competitive imo. Quite a significant amount of my bets are in bad races.

Just had a look at some of Monday nights RPGTV programme, in association with and sponsored by Bet365, Betfred, Flutter, GVC, Unibet and William Hill.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but there has to be some balance and I won’t get any by emailing the programme so I may as well use this thread.
I think the pundits on RPGTV should reflect on the ability of their above paymasters to lay a bet to all at advertised prices before turning their attention to the practices of the on course layers.
Starting with Tanya, I am pleased to report there is plenty of experience within the ring at Yarmouth. There are personnel operating who were in betting rings long before she could tie her own shoelaces. For her to state any bookmaker doesn’t understand percentages is ridiculous. They certainly understand the modern day on course market. They can also identify a favourite. I think it is Tanya who needs to go back to bookmaker’s school after referring to a greyhound as the 5/2 favourite when the displayed show down the card was 3/1, 2/1, 6/1, 3/1, 6/1 and 5/2. You can listen to it yourself on Monday’s show prior to the 7.26 race.
As for Alistair, he may not like our prices but, as I noted above, we know the on course market at Yarmouth. I am not paid enough to provide a utopian service for pundits. As a matter of fact, in a couple of weeks time I will once again be a net payer of rent to stand at meetings covered by RPGTV meetings on Monday and Thursday. Also, there is no free entry to the public to BEGS/RPGTV meetings at Yarmouth.
It may assist RPGTV viewers with their understanding of how the present day prices are supplied if they were provided with the with two sets of prices available, the shortest price is the price relayed to the off course firms.
Therefore, if my rival bookmaker lays a bet of 300-100 and cuts the price to 2/1, that is the new show which is relayed to the off course firms. The fact the greyhound may still be available on my board at 3/1 is irrelevant. Such a cut may seem an overreaction but when a bookmaker is taking less than £500 on a twelve race card I think it is quite acceptable.
I take the vast majority of the money staked in the ring at Yarmouth but I have no control of a price in an upward direction, only a price reduction.
The punters that matter to me are those at Yarmouth who know they get a fair deal and who know they can get a bet on. The front two in the betting are generally close to the Betfair prices and they are the ones that matter. My punters are not interested in theoretical percentages on greyhounds they don’t want to bet but, for some years now, connections are interested to know my tissue prices in order for them to decide whether to take an early price from me or to avail themselves of prices on offer from the off course firms before the opening show if they can get a bet on.
On the subject of percentages, if, during betting, my rival bookmaker is 5/1 on a particular greyhound and the Betfair price is, say, 10 or more, why would I need to be any longer than 6/1? For the public at large, I don’t view Betfair as my competition unless I want to lay a particular greyhound. I am competing with the on course Tote with takeout commissions of 32% and 35% providing overrounds of between 147% and 154%.
I think given the scenario of one run required with one wicket remaining I wouldn’t have seen Alistair Brown marching down the wicket to hit the ball out of the ground to secure victory.
As for whether I am allowed to take a view, I was contacted on behalf of one of the above referenced RPGTV sponsors a long while ago of instances where track bookmakers at Yarmouth were not following the exchanges which is not the norm and that they would thereafter keep an eye on the situation. I told him to respond to the firm that I would provide a full tissue of 125% for each meeting for a fee which they could advertise and would lay them any greyhound to lose at least a grand at those prices prior to the commencement of the meeting. They didn’t want to pay for such a service to replace their computer generated prices.
Perhaps, Ali and Tanya could have a word with Steve Allen or Dave Clark. They would advise them there is value for punters within the off course firms prices at every Yarmouth meeting, even at the 135% to 140% on offer.
Maybe the RPGTV viewers need to be told some of the foregoing and that on course layers are obliged to cut the price of a greyhound to be in line with Betfair even if it has not been laid. I am pretty sure that Yarmouth books were the last track, by some time, to introduce Betfair into the ring and if it could be removed from bookmakers and punters alike it would be welcomed.
Anyway, enough of this. I am now off to watch a box set of Homeland.

What I really likes about the Yarmouth books on monday is that in the FIRST 10 races there was 1 winning FAV and 1 winning 2ND FAV.
Just to make sure you shafted everyone on planet earth and didnt risk a penny pf your hard-earned you upped the % to 135 and 139 in the last 2 races of the night.
As Ali said the bookmakers there on Monday were a digrace amnd should be ashamed of themselves.

Taking the worst price off only 2 boards is always going to lead to poor percentages...I thought you had to have 3 in attendance for bookmaker meetings so this problem wouldn't arise as when I have been at track a while ago there was 3.

It's only a matter of time paint and in any case the off course reps were manipulating the on course markets 30 years at such as Hackney so they may as well go all the way now.

I wouldn't disagree with you on that Rails and that's certainly how it should be but I'm under the impression if you don't play ball then your out it's more of a dictatorship these days and a shocking state of affairs..

Irish ,I dont disagree with you but reading between the lines from the bookmaker at Yarmouth there are lots of factors that occur in the s.p. It also appears ally isnt aware of this which makes oncourse books an easy target lets be honest he doesnt have a go about the sponsors who have restricted my accounts and one I only had half a dozen £80 bets which all lost but I beat price on them all now for me that is shocking yet he doesnt go there. When I was able to attend several tracks years ago I never got refused or restricted the game isca dictatorship and a sad state of affairs currently as I previously stated..

Can someone please tell me what a theoretical percentage is (posted by icantbelieveyousaidthat yesterday)? If a winner falls within are all losing bets refunded? Thanks.

Tonight the average % is around 145, 158 in the first.
Just sack these clowns on the spot and call the fraud squad. Even their own parents would disown them if it was explained to them.
