Having been out of the game for around 25 years I have decided to buy a sapling it’s almost 1 year old and arrives here on Thursday 28 November,It’s more a bit of interest for me he will be trained just 5 miles from me so I can visit him any time I want ( trainers good with that )
Case money,he is a black dog out of Laughil Blake and Sidarian Pearl Irish Derby winner and the bitch won the Puppie oaks and the Shelbourne xmas oaks and ran in the Irish Derby final but finished last

Got my trainer to send me a couple of video clips of my pup in the paddock,as being disabled I can’t get to it,JUPE looks an absolute picture what a pleasure to see him flying up the field reall enjoying a good stretch out.there is a lake in the middle of the gallops with reeds in he heard a sound and stopped still with ears pricked a duck scattered into the reeds quick as a flash he was in darting in and out of the reed bed he didn’t catch it but he had a good go and certainly appeared to enjoy his impromptu swim.anothe 3 or 4 months and we can think about schooling him, can’t wait

He is to be called Jupiter and his litter brother that as yet is still in Ireland is to be called Saturn,I’m afraid it will likely not be untill May or June before they race they haven’t even had a hand slip yet,as they are both well made big dogs their trainer wants them to strengthen up their bones a bit, they have plenty of time.In fact I haven’t even seen Saturn yet

good luck Doncaster, have owned many dogs in the past with bro and a mate.
Great times, fortunately we won many open's.
Had a pup making her debut, went to watch, she won 7/4f collected our cash, shot in the car shot along the motorway to another track to get there for another of our dogs in an Open race, 4/1, got our bets on, boommmmmm she won too!
Hope you get many exciting moments from them.

Jupes has been here 10 weeks now I have to say he has settled in very well and seems to be enjoying life at Annalise Thomson’s kennels .His brother should be arriving here in about two weeks m so looking forward to seeing him fo the first time.Jupes will be going to a schooling track soon to have a handslip just hoping he will chase ok. I’ll be a lot more settled myself once they have both had a handslip to be certain they will chase ,Have any of you ever had pups that won’t chase ,I had two twenty or so years ago that wouldn’t chase ,this is why I am so nervous and apprehensive

They are out of a top stud dog ( Irish Derby winner ) and the mother is a puppy oaks and Xmas oaks winner at Shelbourne also she got into the Irish Derby final but missed her break and finished last, was a nominee for Irish bitch of the year.i know no guarantees but if I got A 2/3 I’d be happy but secretly hoping for even better.my main concern is buying them at 11 months old is have the had a spin round a schooling track and shown little or no interest in chasing.Jupes is very keen on his daily walks but does that mean he will chase

I went down to see Jupiter’s full broher yesterday he arrived on Thursday and I have to say he arrived in great condition.i would say he is around the 78 lb mark slightly bigger and heavier than Jupiter. They both look to have plenty of size and scope about then and are both a bundle of energy.i have been checking out the mother’s previous and first litter to Taylor’s Sky and I have to say the offspring have been largely disappointing with the exception of two A2 dogs racing At Shelbourne. These pups are by Laughil Blake so I’m hoping that he works the oracle and the litter or at least some of the litter prove their worthjupiter will be having a handslip soon and it’s fingers crossed he chases ok.ill post on here how he goes good or bad so every one who is taking an interest in him / them can be uptodate

Well on Wednesday 4h March we took the two pups to have a hand slip to see if they will chase Saturn went first for about 250 mts he set off like a rocket and never faulted and stopped at the drop off point I was chuffed to deat with him I’m sure e could have gone round again the trainer was beeping and was chuffed also .Next came Jupiter and he set off no problem though he did seem to wobble a bit when he got into full stretch after the first bend and onto the back straight, all in all a fantastic first two runs we are going again in two weeks time and I cannot wait to see them run again ,remember that was their first look at a race track I’ll keep all interested party’s up to date wi their progress

Both pups have had their second hand slip and they went vet well again The next spin will be in two weeks will be from a trap with the front open two weeks later hopefully with the front closed,by the way I have bought a 50% share in a very nice dog in Ireland he’s had two races and won them both, pretty sure he’s going to be half decent

As I’ve bought a pup out of the same mother as Ice on fire what relation does that make my pup to his illustrious relation,is he a half brother,as he is by a different father?

The ice on fire half brother is almost 12 months old .He is being kept with his breeder in Ireland for the time being though apparently the transportation company is starting next week so then once my trainer has room for him he will be brought over to Doncaster.i have received new photographs of him this week and he is looking well in himself,I can’t wait for things to get back to normal so he can be brought over

The half brother to Ice on Fire who is 11.5 months old and is doing very well he’s still with his breeder in Ireland,I have managed to get the breeder to sell me one of the two bitches that he has left and that he was keeping for himself with a view to eventually breeding with them to hopefully continue the bloodlines the dog and bitch are both coming over on Thursday 28th May

Well the two pups arrived yesterday 29th May they are to be trained to race at Monmore.they arrived in good health and are a nice size dog 35 kilo bitch 30 Kilo, they are as yet unnamed but will post their names ASAP.The other two Pups Jupiter And Saturn are almost schooled and could be decent judging on how they are going. It could be end of June or early July before they actually race as they are still to be marked up and have their grading trials, this doesent bother me as they are a decent size with plenty of scope so I’m not bothered about rushing them

Well the new pups have settled in very well and seem to be enjoying life I haven’t been down to see them yet due to the current situation tough I get plenty of photos and videos. Also I have in conjunction with another owner in the kennels bought a 17 month old pup that had its trials and was ready to race before the lockdown,I didn’t choose this dog it was offered to me from one of the more prominent owners in the kennel I’ll let you know how he gets on once he has graded on at Monmore.I am very pleased to report that the Irish dog ( half share ) that I bought into had a sprint trial on Saturday and absolutely flew round.Make no mistake this dog is a flying machine

Thanks The Bairn I forgot to say the new 17 month old pup arrives on Wednesday,we intend to get him marked up. As quickly as possible and trialled on so hopefully when the opens get started we can try and get him into a puppy open and see what he’s made off,all this depending on how quickly he settles in

Well the new pup ( unraced ) arrived at the kennels at 10/30 A M this morning he looks well enough the will weigh him in 4 or five days but he looks to me to be in the 72 lb region, the trainer is going to get him settled in and get marked up before his first trial rest assured I will keep you imformed on how he is going

Well my two pups after checking are actually 18 months old they had a schooling solo yesterday ( Friday )both went ok without pulling any trees up ,both are going mad in the traps which doesent help,Saturn again I would say is about 5 lentghs superior to Jupiter.Next time in 2 weeks they are running in company both just 2 dog trials ,then provided they run straight it will be on to Nottingham for grading trials,Trainer seems more confident than I am about being decent. my half brother and sister by Holdem Spy are reported to be enjoying life they are 13 month old so plenty of time for them.the new pup has been marked up at Monmore and will trial in about 7 to 10 days time

Well Jupiter and Saturn are schooled now and once the paperwork is sorted out in Ireland they will be marked up and do their trials at Nottingham.I have to say at this moment in time I’m largely disappointed in them I think they will be of a low grade hopefully they can bui as of now I have severe doubts. This is the chance you take when you buy pups or Saplings.Any way I’ll let you all know when and if they get graded on.Probably be mid August. The new pup I bought in 50/50 partnership has had two solo trials at Monmore and I would say his times are around D2 times he should be haveing A 480 metre solo then in company then hopefully go on the racing strength.the two youngest pups who are this month 15 month old so once the trainer is happy with them they will start their schooling, they do chase the lure and have done so coming out of the traps.I am hopefully both the dog and the bitch will be decent, but I’m trying to keep my feet on the ground as I got very much carried away with Jupiter and Saturn. The next report is likely to be in two weeks to hopefully report that the pup Buddy is graded on and ready to race at Monmore, stay safe everybody,oh and I forgot to say a horse I own 10% off makes his debut om Monday at Thirsk Purple Knight not advising a bet but if you watch the racing you can maybe have a watch and let me know on here what your thoughts are.i also have 5% of a filly on Sunday called Never In Paris 12/30 at Haydock ,can’t see her winning it but at least she is in a race ,I thought at one time she wouldn’t race again

Well the training fees are coming in thick and fast along with the share in four horses it adds up to a tidy some far far more than my pension income,I definatly need at least have the dogs ( 3 ) to start racing so they can at least supplement their costs.I will be selling my horse shares at the end of November.Though two of them are decent ( one group 3 placed and won 35k this year) one more ran in the Ascot gold cup last year, but has not won a bean since his placed run in the Ebor last year.i am definitely concentrating on the greyhounds and intend to buy two more saplings in Dec/Jan,hopefully the six dogs I already have 2 of which are in 50/50 partnerships will be supplementing thei costs by at least 50% .ill let you know when and if any of the dogs ever get racing.its a nightmare trying to get the paperwork done when they are not already named in Ireland the COVID Virus has had the Irish office closed and it’s causing serious problems still haven’t got the papers for Jupiter and Saturn from Ireland Nd without them we can’t even get hem marked up at Nottingham.then we have to. Get them registered in England,I can’t see them trialling in July so it will be September before they have completed their trials and are graded in.Big tip if you buy any pups or saplings begin the naming and registration process immediately, don’t listen to your trainer or other owners saying no we have plenty of time ,don’t listen get them named and registered,Rant Over.Aidens Reward 8 pm Thirsk tonight my son owns 25% of him and now he has a good jockey on him not a raw Appretice I expect this horse to go Very Close

I agree Wedge paid decent money for the latest pup at 14 months, even more so as originally there was five of us now just four as one dropped out after my freind transferred the money over to the breeder, not quite sure what we are going to do as yet whether we each pay extra or we bring in a fifth person I have a feeling it will end up with 2 x 30% and 2 x20% shares,he arrives tomorrow so it’s make our mind up time
