Never left a track early, I like how different they can be.  For what I though were sh1tholes though, take your pick. Hull or Peterborough.

Catford was my second home for many years, I still miss the place. Wisbech was probably the scruffiest track I've ever been to but I still had a good time there having said that.

I have visited nearly 50 tracks since I started in the sixties. I have enjoyed every one of them, particularly the long lost London tracks. If I had to choose a least favourite it would be the current Crayford track.

Oi Deptford. My old man was brought up in Upton Park attended the White Horse Final in 1923 and even he would tell you that the Custom House track was rubbish.Plain

Wimbledon when they moved it over to the other side. Broke my heart when I went for the first time, was told it was horrific but turned out to be even worse then everyone was saying!

The other one I hated was Harold's Cross. Never seen so much carnage at the first bend in all my life when I went there for the first round of the Puppy Derby the night before the Derby Final at Shelbourne. Have been to many Irish Derby finals over the years but never again to Harold's Cross. Was terrible seeing those young dogs put on the floor, smash into each other race after race

Wisbech worst for me.

Rye House had its problems - leaves all over the track in the Autumn, crap viewing - especially if you were by the line on the other side of the "restaurant" and the fog coming off the canal. But I enjoyed the Sunday night Open racing

Norton Canes was a permit track but held some good opens

As basic as you could dream of. The watering system was a long hosepipe all round the track with holes punched in it, talk about budget facilities but any racing is better than none

It must be hard to imagine for anyone who never went there , The two tote boards Illuminated at each Each  , and when the Lights went out the Track in its all its glory an Incredible sight ,a sight to behold , if a greyhound Fan could dream a dream , he would dream of the City Happy

However As its been done to death , I will say sorry for putting the thread in another Direction ..

But will add, the link I added is quite amazing with so many of our lost tracks covered ........ Broken hearts and dreams

Harringay Back in the Day

The stadium also had a reputation of crowd disturbances, when one incident witnessing six fire engines dispersing rioters, after they had set fire to the tracks tractor, and also smashed track lighting and windows, all because the judges disqualified a winning dog   Laugh Pmsfl
