Handicap at Poole

I've never seen a dog at 1.6 in a handicap before and even worse off the scratch mark.

he is a complete coont fatty.....talks like he knows it all......just a gusser....perfect for these guys.....will find a winner at some stage and daryl will say what a judge.....

It may seem aftertiming but I can't think of any decent judge who would nap a dog at 1/2 in a handicap off scratch!

the other week he put up two dogs for the following night......both absolutely thrown in.....according to him.....both beat.....both drifted.....

Allegedly kicked dogs
allegedly poisoned dogs owned/trained by people he had allegedly threatened to finish in the game.

how could a weaselly looking coont like him threaten anyone......maybe old ladies...

Dear Mr Bird

I write this as a true account of events which has occurred and involved the above named person.

Between 2010 & 2014 I had several greyhounds with the trainer Alma Keppie, and I cannot praise Alma enough for the care she personally gave my dogs during my time at her kennels, I would like to point out at this time that Almas kennels were also clean & tidy my dogs personal kennels were spotless and the dogs were always in a great condition.

On a Sunday morning Alma did a owners morning where we could go to the kennels collect our dogs take them for walks in the forest and most of the time Alma would be about to talk about the dog, its welfare and the future plans for the dog.

It was during a visit to the kennel on a Sunday morning with my brother Paul Binge that we saw Kaan Hughes trying to put a bitch away called Ballymac Guest, Ballmac Guest could be a little bit of a bugger and when returning her to the kennel she would try and nip you and I can only presume this is what she did to Kaan, with this we saw with our own eyes Kaan fully kick the dog with all his might, slam the kennel door and call the bitch a f**king piece of c r a p.

My brother Paul who had a part share in the dog went of his nut and to be fair if I hadn’t stood in his way he would have finished Kaan there and then, because of the commotion Alma appeared from the treatment room and asked me what was going on I said I would ring her later as I was more concerned of getting my brother out of the kennels before he confronted Kaan.

We left the kennels and went straight to my brother Ians house where I explained what had happened my brother paul was still fuming after a lengthy discussion we all agreed Alma had a choice she either sacked Kaan or we would move our dogs, Alma for her own reasons refused to terminate Kaans employment so we moved our dogs.

After undertaking a few kennel inspections I personally fell in love with June Harvey’s kennels in Ower, her entire set up was amazing and from talking to June and Tony and their outlook & passion on greyhound racing even today it was the best I have ever heard.

At the time June was still running her dogs at Poole as an attached trainer to the track it was shortly after the move to the track that Kaan knowing we had moved to the Harvey kennel pushed right into Tony Harvey to provoke him we were standing outside by the traps and witnessed the entire incident Tony told Kaan to f**k off and Kaan’s reply to tony was I will finish you in greyhound racing and I will ensure your licence is revoked by the gbgb.




After the race tony returned the dog to the kennelling area and about 10 minutes later he came into the main building and he then explained that because we moved to their kennel Kaan has taken it upon himself to try and intimidate him into throwing us as owners out of the Harvey kennel.

Ive got to say this infuriated me, when Kaan entered the main building I confronted him we exchanged some very harsh words where he told me he would finish my dogs what he meant by this only he can answer but I saw red I pushed him and said one more word I would finish him there and then, by this time the security at the track had surround us and with Kaan now hid behind several security guards told me he would do me anytime any place which did make me chuckle.

Sean spencer Perkins the stadium manager then asked me to go to the front foyer area with him for a chat which I did, I explained the entire situation and then he said I had to leave for the evening, I then explained to him I had six further runners that night on the card and if I was going so was my dogs and I would only leave if he sent Kaan home as well, after taking a couple of minutes to think about this he said I could go back in so long as I stayed away from Kaan which I did.

So after a steady few years of doing graded racing June & tony Harvey convinced me & my brothers to invest in open dogs and after a nice trip to Ireland we returned with some very good dogs we were no longer graded owners we had moved to the big world of open racing.

During this time we went around the country to Wimbledon, Nottingham, Monmore, Crayford, Romford, Sittingbourne & Hove to name but a few and after certain races where our dogs had run or even sometimes before our dogs ran they were tested at the track we never ever had a positive result.

But on the three times we returned to Poole 3 x positive drug tests and to the day I die I can tell you when the dogs where kennelled at Poole the dogs were clean, now by this time the relationship with June & Tony was amazing, June terrified we would leave because of the positive tests practically had a nervous breakdown she even marched us into her treatment room opened her medication cupboard in front of us to prove the drugs which were found in the specimens taken by the vet was not in her possession

I felt so sorry for June & Tony as I thought because of Kaan’s dislike for me he was going to ruin June & Tony’s livelihood so I couldn’t attend the first hearing but I attended the other two hearings both times the local trainers rep wanted June & Tony to blame it on the meat being fed to the dogs but fair play to June, Tony & myself we told him and the gbgb to get stuffed, June begged them to investigate the allegations which are recorded against Kaan but it fell on deaf ears.

I know 100% that June and Tony are innocent and the only reason I have today wrote this truthful statement is so that Kaan is hopefully suspended indefinitely from greyhound racing, the gbgb re-open the case against June and realise she was just a victim of Kaan Hughes vengeance and the cases are wiped from the record and Kaan Hughes can no longer inflict punishment on greyhounds.

I have since sold all my greyhounds and because of Kaan I can never see myself being involved in the industry again

i was right by the sounds of it.....animals and old ladies......must be sucking on jks sausage to get that job...….

I believe his mum is shacked up with Martin Johnstone (gem racing/Poole bookie) who owns/owned dogs with Lawrence brothers. Unfortunately seems untouchable.

they never are nikita.....sh1t always sinks in my experience.....sometimes just takes a little longer.....

been common knowledge to a lot of people in the dog game for a long time what a total fkin scumbag this guy is but good to reveal to others who didn't otherwise know

quite why counts like him are still working within the sport, let alone on fkin TV, is beyond me
