wonder how much it surface related or racing manager related but plenty of races since they re-laid the track they've been strung out like monday's washing line

It must be 20 yrs since I was there wonders my memory ain't wot it was. The track surface was always poor even then. I was at Linda mUllins almost 3 yrs. 2 of them years I turned up with palace issue and another time with a nice dog called bossy wade I thought they would both win palace issue fav twice. Wen I took them in middle to empty I knew we couldn't win. Track a bog on inside.

MASTER GRADER PETER O’DOWD TWEAKS HIS RETIREMENT PLAN


Ladbroke Coral have announced that the racing manager against who all others are judged – Peter O’Dowd – will continue in a part time basis beyond his planned retirement in December.

The former Preston, Westhoughton and Bolton racing manager who moved south to Romford in July 1996, celebrates his 65th birthday in December but he is not being allowed to disappear into the sunset any time soon.

He said: “I will finish full time with Mark Arkell taking over during the month transition. From January I will be working two days a week, sometimes from home.

“After everything we have been through, it will be good to see things through with the building work at the stadium, though I still need to finalise exactly what Ian Smyth is expecting of me.”

Director of stadiums, Smyth said: “We simply couldn’t afford to lose someone with Peter’s knowledge and understanding of the industry. Although I still have so much to learn, he has taught me such a great deal in a short space of time.

“For the first few months, I hope he will be able to help the rest of the racing office staff bed in. They are a young team and Peter’s guidance will be invaluable while allowing Mark to concentrate on his new role. Between three to six months, we should also have the stadium building works reaching an important stage and again, Peter’s input will be invaluable.

“We will have to play it by ear after that. He may start to enjoy his retirement time too much and demand more of it. But if he is keen to continue, there are a number of things that he could manage and free me up for other projects I would like to tackle.

“I am particularly delighted that Peter will be here to see the end of the stadium development. Many people don’t realise, but for Peter, and the faith that the trainers have in him, this stadium might not have survived last year due to all the uncertainty about its future.”

private i know that palace issue had her or his quirks but what a very fast greyhound.saw it win at romford 1 night led off 575 and completly took off.one of the best runs i have ever seen.

Super judge he was a great dog. Later in his career people said e got quirky. He was such a fast dog and had lots of niggles. He was ultrasounded almost evry day. He was 1 o  the first to dip under 35.00 at Romford. Won a champion stakes a leger grand prix 3 hunt cups was fav for jacket I think 2 or 3 Times. He was an absolute free imo. He won Ballyronan bob memorial at Hove.  He beat knappogue oak n a dog or John mcgees that had just did clock at Stow.  Proper field. I remember Avin a cup of each with all the trainers b4 race. They all said there piece. John said to me ur very quiet son. I said I, ll let the dog do the talking.  He smashed the bars down n I roared him all way round. John mcgees was a good pal o mine I worked there for a while. Great man with a dog. I heard he,s unwell. Hope he,s better soon.

Getting 3 yards from Bolton derby and winning I don't believe yer

Private you remember a graded dog McGee trained at hackney called letter box

Was a big white dog I think

A1 A2 class over 484 m

It nearly always led up till third bend

A few times it was backed like from 6-1 to 6-4 ish and usually kept going and won easy

Practically every time it weren't backed did not stay

It's as if somebody knew something

Amazing after hackney how no one would take McGee in as a graded trainer as he was too good at pulling gambles off

But all them tracks would still accept all his dogs in opens obviously

I told p.f. about a dog a while back. He done a 28.09 trial tralee. Managed to get beat in an A4. almost over the wall at corner. Tailed off got beat half a length. Off a while took him shelbourne did 28.60 odd. Off a while again trialled shelbourne last week 28.26. He,s in 525 puppy Saturday.  I av him down as a stayer. His name is redzer ardfert. Some quick pups against him. May get taken of his feet. My mate highmoon on here put me on to him. He best spotter of a young dog I know.

I was at Brough park when some picture ran I think it's first ngrc race for the private trainer

Was in trap 4 480 m open

Fell out missed three lengths got smashed at the first bend lost about 10 lengths

Was last flew round after that I think it finished  second or third got beat about 2 length was in lead after line

I just though wow never seen a dog run the bends like that show zoo much back straight pace

I think private trainer either sold it after this race or might have had one or two more runs for him before went to Charlie

Never really been an antepost punter

Not sure what price it was to win derby when lister first got it

Once it got down to 12-1 or 10-1 antepost was too short for me

I had my worst night punter ever when some picture won the final was at wimb

If I had done a rather double on some picture at 4-6 and toms the best at 2-1 I would have finished level on the night

But I bottled it as had list too much

Some picture led at first bend won about 6.5 lengths
Toms the best led up for a stayer and won about 8 lengths

Would have never had a moments worry
