Betfair need to put their hand in their Pocket and start paying for a Product that is Making them Millions every year,

Absolutely Scandalous They are not Contributing , SCANDALOUS ,another mob leeching ...

Never mind you can get a bet on ,there will be fook all to bet on in 15/20 years ....

Tracks will just become a mirror image of flapping tracks with small odds as any sane bookmaker would be shy of offering a market on a BAGS event without access to Betfair, the attendances would mostly be kennel staff and a handful of pensioners.

spoke at length on this subject with an independent who in my opinion is a good judge he told me now all use the machine anyone just using there own opinion will go under.

anyone using there own opinion will go under? what a load of bolloxs that is. it the same as anything in life it all depends how good you are at what you do.
Report wondersobright October 8, 2018 5:01 PM BST
he means in the context of laying dogs at inflated prices when they are unders on here

that's how I interpreted this thread

Would stop Paddy power/ betfair manipulating bags greyhound markets everyday.....
Report dr . atkins October 8, 2018 6:17 PM BST
got no problem with it as long as they don't moan if the tracks bookmakers open a say 4t1 and its 11t4 on here
Report wondersobright October 8, 2018 6:32 PM BST
that's bound to happen though doc
and of course the 4s gets filled in every time by both arbers & non-arbers
and over time the opinionated bookie loses
Report lockup October 8, 2018 7:47 PM BST
exactly wonders you can take a view on a dog or horse but they all have a limit on liabilities if you cant lay off at a similar price because everyone else is on the machine you will sink obviously superjudge has never made a book on track.

On track markets are virtually non existent now and how they can make a living is beyond me. When I think back to watching my father clerk in the 1950s for Johnny White senior at White City and the amount of money they were turning over it almost makes you weep.
Report lockup October 8, 2018 8:17 PM BST
so true sparrow all much the same now not much crack either.
Report dr . atkins October 8, 2018 8:22 PM BST
they get paid to make a book now
Report sparrow October 8, 2018 8:43 PM BST
Will they pay them more than their expenses, dr?
Report dr . atkins October 8, 2018 8:53 PM BST
they the bookmakers used to pay about 400 a week to stand up at romford now the track they pay them i would guess it would cover exes
Report sparrow October 8, 2018 9:02 PM BST
Thanks dr, quite incredible but the track has to have bookmakers to return SPs I suppose.
Report starship October 8, 2018 11:41 PM BST
at some tracks bookies can get a living by not laying a bet and pocket the money from the promoters pay them to stand up
Report starship October 8, 2018 11:44 PM BST
i know a bookie that is not unusual for him NOT  to take a bet the whole meeting,
and he part of a team returning the sps to the shops.
it is laughable

Tracks pay bookmakers 750 a week at Central Park....500 at Romford....Hove was 50 per meeting but that must be more by now....its the future unfortunately and the only way it can be remotely justifiable. When I was at Oxford my expenses were about 1k a week including staff (and the field money on the entire bags meeting was never more than 100 quid unless Ladbrokes played)...sums don't add up (that being said, don't think the on-course layers have helped themselves by betting to 130 plus)
