The Captain has decided Hove or some track called Central Park. There are no other candidates he has ruled.
This is a forum where all opinions can be aired and I shall choose Newcastle if that's alright. |

That would be great sparrow. Be some facking moaning from southern trainers.
I, m with u tho. Perfect track. |

Sheffield 500m.
. Imagine final night with 280m, 480m, 660m, 720m, 915m, 934m, for all of you who moan about lack of variety |

Always open to suggestions. Please give positives for Newcastle. I cant think of one.
1) The first bend at Newcastle is v tight and there is carnage every other race. 2) Most of the top trainers in the country are based from midlands down so its a lot of travel for everyone bar A Harrison! 3) The weather is horrible even in summer? |

4) The locals are not the brightest and the women are as scary as the men.

Just a personal opinion, but I always believed that it should’ve gone to Wembley or Hove after White City closed. Politics dictated that it went to Wimbledon.
I still believe that Hove is the most suitable running surface, but I don’t recall the owners throwing their hat into the ring when the event was up for grabs a couple of years ago. Is it possible that their priorities are providing impossible-to-work-out betting shop fodder than sponsoring the Blue Riband event? Sadly, it seems to me, that the Bookies regard greyhound racing as a numbers game and not a lot different to a FOBT and they don’t seem to be too bothered about promoting quality.. |

he probably ain't fecked one up like you did mint

If Newcastle is way too far North, then i'd suggest Hove is way too far south!!

What price the rpgtv mob come up with a different venue every year. Be just like them.

Speaking with Bob Rowe before Towcester got the Derby contract, he said that wasn't the way to go - still being in its infancy. He was right
Hindsight is a great thing but another track could have been established as the Derby home by now |

sittingbourne fav at this stage

Is that the same prick who Gary Newbon tore shreds off at Belle Vue as the lanky string of piss refused to admit the result of a photo was called wrong when shown irrefutable evidence ??
By:
Maybe but he has resided over many, many Derbies, too
Did an excellent job, imo |
By:
If he was doing such a great job why has the sport been in decline for years?
I would guess he was before my time but the gsme has been on a slide for a long time |
By:
Hove would be my choice.
By:
Just my opinion slippy distance to far 515 n no parking. Hove doing renovations now. Nearly done. Don't think moving judges box or winning line an option to make it 480 or 500.
By:
Hove 500 m would be ok
But I can't pick winners at hove abit like Towcester ![]() |
By:
I swear we have had a thread with most of this sh1te on before
Its all down to who bids for it Then there might be a choice..... AND THEN ....If its down to the GBGB it will be fecked up anyways |
By:
judged by process last time I don't think many tracks will be knocking over wheelchairs to rush to get their application in
By:
Yer prefer staging D10 graded sprint racing
By:
U can bet diamonds Mr cearns will be in for it that's for sure.
By:
if its owlerton I will walk away from the game I love
By:
The GBGB will wait until about March before trying to find a new home for the derby and also try and get a new sponsor, as i'll be very surprised if Star Sports continue with the sponsorship.

PF, you cant blame one man for the sports decline
He was running the show at Wimbledon, the only Derby home I knew. My heyday and great times! |
By:
My heyday and great times!
woodmanchester that accolade belongs to wood lane the derby should of never gone to plough lane |
By:
I never did blame him for the sports decline Woody, I was simply asking did he really do an excellent job when the sport has been in decline for so long, before my time (in the UK anyway)
By:
perhaps im blessed that I did
but anyone that never witnessed the derby at the city has no clue to the emotions it evoked feck all else in dog racing could match it |
By:
owlerton
By:
If Sheffield get the derby I will bare my arse in binns,s winda.
By:
Some old railway lines down by us, could easy handle a straight 480 3 dog races

Wedge its not my want to agree with you but with regards wood lane you are spot on.

White City was of course different class.
The spectacle of the competition on a grass track under lights had an atmosphere on its own. The paraders were immaculate, and all sides of the track were packed out. But additional to all this, it was the first time we were able to see the fearsome Irish dogs with their big reputations. All this can never be replicated nowadays alas. My own view is a centrally located venue, and only Birmingham fits the bill, but investment in a selected track would be needed. I wish Betfair would step up to the plate, as I'm sure they benefit more than any other gambling firm and have the finance to fund a revival, after all they invest in sports in other sports /countries already. |
By:
rothman if you remember a few years the trainers royally mugged betfair off when they sponsored the trainers championship (amongst other events)
after that they pulled out and I doubt they will ever get involved again I'm not defending them on their payments situation but that is why they won't sponsor and I don't blame them tbh |
By:
If newcastle were Located in the Midlands there could be Only one Track its not, But then how many dogs are based Deep south these Days ? Shirley Monmore in with a shout ?
By:
Saying that Toon didnt even throw their hat in the Ring last time.
By:
Not sure of the detail of that, but many of the trainers have voiced their desire to resurrect the Trainers Championship, so perhaps that is one of the jobs of members of the GBGB or whoever is running the show now, to use their diplomacy to deal with all these issues.
If there are no strong negotiators in the organisation, then they should be found and quickly. |
