My Dad used to go to Rochdale dogs 3 nights a week( Its now a Morrisons on Kingsway in the town) Rochdale Hornets used to play on their too...Personally i never went as im just turned 50 and the dogs were long gone before i was born...OLDHAM dogs i remember really well though...WATERSHEDDINGS (Oldham rugby next door)..It must have been the coldest dog track in the WORLD in winter, anybody who has been on will surely agree with me...Some serious Money wagered on the sheddings, and always layed unlike anywhere today, Katie Kite one of my Fav dogs on their from years gone by.......BACK TO TODAY...Went to the Zoo last saturday (Belle Vue)...The place was half full, and where have all the gamblers in the ring gone ??? Having said that, there was 5 books standing which i suppose is good in this day and age, But the minimum bet on all boards was £2 win...I remember years ago when 2 of the boards where £10 minimum...I really fear for our sport now, I mean London has not got one Greyhound track left..It beggars belief..Sky TV are doing their bit but viewing figures are not what they were....OH, For a return to those Halycon days ..LOL..Great memories they carnt take away from me though.CoolCool
