if you're a punter who just relies on early prices for dogs or horses then your days are numbered

that game is long long gone, horse aint just bolted its 8 fkin fields away

Patrick, I'm aware of one or two accounts that have been allowed to run for a fair while, as if they are using them as a marker, that have been culled this week. One account took literally six figures off them over 5/6 years but is now dead.
Report wondersobright • June 16, 2017 1:31 PM BST
cards being marked for buttons maybe there are a small number of accounts where that is going on but that is overplayed imo, there just isn't the volume of business to justify it as they wont lay the other dogs so why accommodate the initial liability???

they're not interested in any account that plays the earlies and shows even a modicum of ability, fkin counts every single 1 of them
Report wondersobright • June 16, 2017 1:32 PM BST
hills count on a few months ago saying they laid a fair bet as a mark it was 200 quid ffs
Report thedodgepot • June 16, 2017 1:38 PM BST
I've stopped looking at the early prices as it's deflating knowing that something you'll be betting at 5/2 on here has been 6/1 this morning but you can't have any.
Report wondersobright • June 16, 2017 1:42 PM BST
problem I find is the 6/1 was the wrong price and the 5/2 isn't
Report garryc • June 16, 2017 2:02 PM BST
i cant see how people are getting much on at those early prices ,why mark their card if you are only getting buttons on ,i can bet  to win £5 with bet365 ,one time i tried to test the water with £100 bet on a dog,bet sent to trader bet refused and they cut the odds from 5/1 to 4/1 .hills did lay me for a while after the account was restricted to max takouts of £1250 at their tracks ie newcastle/sunders wimbledon but other tracks differed but lower take outs, that is now long gone so no point marking their cards for buttons,

Depends on price and race obviously, but in general terms I think £200 is a fair bet to someone who is a mark. On racing anyway.

They are better than the rest which isn't saying much but only short term. 2017 and this treatment of punters should not be allowed. As in New South Wales they should be made to say lose a monkey each bet otherwise no license to be granted. No problem if they don't put up prices but don't wind everybody up with the tempters only to blow up your account for everything else. The only mark this current mob would lay is a skid mark in the traders pants...pathetic the lot of them and can't see how they get away with it.....no more bulls hit Pat Clooney the lot of you are insulting the betting public with your spineless practises!

These early markets are a menace for punters and are justifying the bookmakers reasons for introducing them in the first place.
And as wonders says there will be very little liquidity generated.

thought hillcrest would come on here and defend them.

Report patrick starr • June 17, 2017 12:20 AM BST
whats too defend starship?

you know as well as i do its impossible to price up as many races as they do with the team they have, they'd have to quadruple the team and even then, you need the right people in the numbers and they aint gonna come cheap, the lads there can only do what they can do,theres only so many hours in a day!

Its a vicious circle, say they employed someone warm, even with the best software in the world(which is mine btwCool) they can only do an absolute max of 3 tracks per person and thats an 80 hour week for one man, that bloke on them tracks will burn out easily in 3 months and have to have a month off(i know a lad who works exactly like that) then you have to cover them tracks while he has some downtime, again extra costs from covering and the cover doesnt know the gaffs...in that month off you undo 3 months good work.

I think theres 20 tracks involved with bags and rpgtv so thats a minimum of 7 lads, really tho i think you need a team of around 15-18 to account for time off and the inevitable lemons that are there bluffing a living cos they caught the boss nailing a cleaner late one evening (yes tippex i mean you)

Long and short, theres simply too much racing for any firm to price it all up properly and attempt to make a book/take the punters on unless firms are willing to invest in the trading desk, sadly the exact opposite seems to be the case with numbers being reduced by the bean counters!

So we're left to make friends with "levi" and the rest of the team down the pub(who incidentally are not nearly as surprised as they used to be when you tell them how these multi billion dollar betting conglomerates actually work and that you arent actually allowed to win money betting anymore) and pray he doesnt decide to go and visit his relatives for a year when his account gets chinned and you are trying to get paid,oh what joy.

The reason they price it up is because CEOs and trading directors are specifically told to ensure they are offering the best product. The profitability can be dealt with after by factoring/restricting your warm clients but the focus is to get punters through the door initially.

As far as they are concerned, the accuracy of the prices isn't important so long as the risk management is good and the choice for punters is second to none.

It's a infuriating strategy to the professional but with a saturated market, the marketing of a sports book is vital to getting enough punters through to meet and surpass rising costs.

hillcrest and Miles are good dog people and you can bet they have no interest at all in pricing every race up, but are forced to do so due to the commercial pressures exerted on them from above.

365 are the best firm around once an account is "established". How an account becomes "established" is a secret I would not want to divulge.
Where else could you possibly get a £400 sfc on or back a dog to win £6000?
The website is way out in front of all its competitors, the only thing I can criticise are those Ray Winstone Ads.
