I haven’t done this for a while so please be gentle with me.

Best bet on the card tonight at Wimbledon?

Queen Julie in the 8.26.

Nicely housed on the outside of a slow-starting dog. Once in front, will anything peg it back? I’m not in the habit of backing of 6-4 shots normally but this one should be a lot shorter.

Remarks for trap 5 on previous race at Wimbledon said ‘Crd1’ but I could see nothing wrong – and the time was poor.

Trap 2 is having its first sight of the track and is still a racing rookie, while Trap 1 is another slow starter and has only once ever started on the inside in its previous races.

That leaves Trap 3, who will be running on strongly but Julie might be too far ahead.

It’s all about whether T6 pings.

Despite all my comments about the above race, I’ll be backing a dog in the 8.58 who hasn’t had a run in its allotted trap and is running at W’don for the first time.

The reason? T2 moves right when the traps open so T1 should have a little racing room. Anything to the immediate right of T2 is a no-no for me, so I’ve crossed off T3.

Trap 5 is odds on – and is the stand-out mutt in the line-up. It breaks well. But I’m banking on a possible bit of argy-bargy with T6, who can also break. Put it this way, I’d rather be on a 10-1 shot than a dog that’s 4-5.

Looking at video footage, it might just be me but T4 runner Magical Billy has jinked slightly right on its last two runs when the traps open. It certainly had an awkward motion. If it does that again, then I don’t think it will win.

My hope is that T1 blasts out, clears the first bend and T5 is held up by T6. I might lay T5, too.

Thanks for reading.

Great post

Nice to read a well-reasoned case rather than a "lump on the favourite" tip - don't know if you are right or wrong, but good luck.

Hope so. but it's a hot race and he's been off quite a while.

He's a player if he can hold the rail to the bend.

Yes - it's a shame he wasn't ready for the BAGS leg down there - would have made them all go in the Elite race
