have only played tonight at the moment - too much cash to tie up! lol
7.25 on calco flyer strong think even at 11/8 there is plenty of juice in the price i think he will be incredibly tough to beat and is a proper odds on chance. fired a few doubles with old joe golden as well in 7.54 as i can't see past him, he looks a point and shoot job. 8.42 bubbly turbo is probably the right fav given his early but you'll never convince me the dog is worth 28 grand. no bet. 9.48 really wanted to be with droopys turin think he has a great chance but i made him 5/2 so can't play there. 10.03 am with lemon jamesy. thought he would lead and plum draw. did look at potentially buying this dog when it was up for sale a couple of months ago. 10.18 went 4/6 panda and 11/4 awesome in what looks a two dog race. no angle there. 10.35 have bet aventador at 5/1. pacey animal when trapping in what looks an open race. great draw to work from, took a chance he can make all. good luck. |

Couple for me tonight
My mate Max and Lemon Jamsey. Think Jamsey is very well drawn as T3 is likely to go rails at the boxes and bump Cafu. Good luck all |

How much prize money will the winning connections receive this year?
By:
250 a heat which i think is excellent - goes a long way to covering expenses and is what it should be - i remember when winning a QF of the st leger a couple of years back getting 110 quid which was appalling. massive improvement. outright is now 150k to 250k but the finalists money is much better i believe - again a big improvement if you win the derby money really is kind of irrelevant.

Here is my note on the second heat of last year's Derby, added to the RP race comments.
WILLIAM HILL GREYHOUND DERBY 1ST ROUND HEAT 2 7:54 Grade: OR Prize: £110 Distance: 480m Going: +20 POSITION DOG SP SEC TIME DIST TRAINER 1st 2 Rio Quattro 9/4 4.82 28.57 D Riordan bk D Ace Hi Rumble-Droopys Geneva Jun12 crowded first, led three quarters burst through third bend, trackcraft middle runner. Looked great but may have burst past slowing dogs.. 2nd 3 Loughteen Eoin 8/1 4.78 28.61 ½ A Ward bk D Cashen Legend-Loughteen Lassie Aug12 ran on railed Point/message: You have to believe what you see at Wimbledon. Ability to run the track is all-important and, if they don't run it, they'll never learn to! Be lucky. |

Ffs looks like all yin job Calco Flyer in first at odds against.
**** or bust first race! The 2 moved middle in Ireland from there and 4 stayed m-w run up so surely has rails to himself. |

Thought 9/4 Jaytee Dutch and 4/5 Eden The Kid goods bets and thrown in the 4.6/1 double
Think 5/2 Mucho Macho Man might just get the better of Droopys Turin Some I thought might outrun their prices: 7/1 Young Romeo 6/1 Tyrur Fergal 11/2 Crokers Champ 7/1 Bramble Bruno Big night antepost with Jaytee Jet, Roddick, Eden and Panda. Fingers crossed Good luck! |
By:
woody every night is gonna be a big night for you antepost youve backed half the runners in the competition ffs.
captain carngae yes, big bet alright even allowing for the fact ive took a step back it being the first race of the whole derby and all that made him a 4/6 chance has plenty in his favour tonight. |
By:
I will be concentrating on the rags down the middle generally at this stage , but any strategy is dependent upon how the track is running each night and the bowser use . Rags generally don't have a great record in these early heats , so bets are very much price dependent . Anything over 20's will have me checking the form and anything over 10's on the place market will definitely attract a nibble.

Thanks, addy. I was led to understand that the outright winner would receive less than the 250k of last year and have not seen the final figure published.
By:
The prize structure is so much better this year,as addy says its been an utter disgrace in recent years, the 250-150k first prize drop is just fine imo,a derby is about so much more than one dog.
By:
I agree that the overall structure is better, but is 150k the final figure for the winner? If so that's a massive drop.
By:
perhaps but its the same prize pool i think the finalists are all getting chunky raises which i think is far better the heat money has more than doubled
By:
Yes i think the 300k prize pool is the same as last year, just a much fairer distribution of the pool imo.

7.39 Jaytee Spartacus 8.10 Pinpoint Den 10.35 Greenhill Gem will play T2 in 7.54 5s seems too big any scrimmaging between 5&6 if chico can lead the inside could slip round. good luck all. |

ffs Addy, you don't have to pull me at my every turn. Not every night as big as this, as you say. Realistically, only got four at very good odds with good claims and all of them running tonight!
