harsh - the lad has been in the sport less than 10 years. for what its worth, i think in that time farloe tango when right is possibly the quickest i've seen in that time - could take lengths out of anything eske included

on his going days tango was a sight to behold but someone in the business who should know what he was......its a bit disappointing.....

If in the last 10 years Farloe Tango is the best he can come up with then he hasn't watched too much.  If you want my opinion then Premier Fantasy wasn't too long ago for him. As for all time I was 10 years old when I saw Pigalle Wonder win the Derby.

premier fantasy last raced 12 years ago this lad would have been 9. plus, tbh he can say wtf he wants, its his opinion, not saying what he thinks others want to hear.

mine would be westmead hawk. perhaps not the fastest but dual derby winner going unbeaten, unrivalled track craft and did things for the sport off the track. it was a privilege to be there for "that" semi final run.

Addy, I think the OP's point is that someone in the game ought to have a little more insight, but as you say he is entitled to his opinion.

It's all down to really what dog a person liked as well as ability as they'll be their answer, of course the answer for anybody watching racing 12 years or more is clearly Premier Fantasy, we all know that

Premier, a bit like choosing between Scurlogue Champ and Ballyregan Bob.

Have only seen videos of both obviously and if i said what i really thought of Scurlogue Champ i would really upset a lot of the older generation, for all how exciting he was. Ballyregan Bob looked a machine, a rolls royce of a greyhound

Most of the people who saw Scurlogue Champ know exactly what you mean but tracks were prepared to pay connections just to appear.
In 60 years of watching I have never seen anything as exciting.

Was amazing, Champ was the biggest super star this sport will ever have, Stadiums were packed full ,only other real Superstar crowd attraction type dog was Probably Mick The Miller but in them days stadiums were mobbed anyway

Maybe the question should be whats your fav greyhound and why? I think the answers would be much more interesting tbh.

My point was that if a greyhound which REGULARLY stopped chasing is the best you've ever seen then you haven't been watching very closely.

I've seen Some Picture, Phantom Flash, Staplers Jo, Moral Standards, Blue Murlen, Slaneyside Hare and Westmead Hawk all produce fantastic, memorable runs yet the dog that impressed me most was a dog called Aghadown Timmy.
Probably because I was reasonably new to the sport and he produced demolished a field of dogs that I was familiar with in an aeroplane time!!!.... On paper he is not the fastest but in my mind he is definitely on of them!!!

(I did see Rapid Ranger and Chart King too)...

Mustapha, I'd backed Aghadown Timmy to win the Arc at Walthamstow. Went via Swindon to pick a friend up. Got as far as Slough and my old banger broke down, so never did get chance to see Timmy. Fires Of War won it anyway

Think the best bitch I saw close between was Ginger McGee's Sard and Roxholme Girl. Thought Exile Energy smart, too. Never did see Waltham Abbey but saw "The Champ" a few times. Saw a few good Derbies like Lartigue Note, Moral Standards and was a bit speechless the way Rio Quattro mowed down Farloe Blitz last year

Ron, I backed Westmead Pulse too but devoid of early pace and never came away. Fine pace but always took too long to get going. Not 100% but don't think Exile Energy ever won a Leger and not sure about Grand Prix either? Seem to remember a match she lost against Fort Leader at Walthamstow, though. Remember had a crack at TV Trophy round Catford. Brilliant 820m Wimbledon but think it was 888m Catford too far, Proud To Run won. Re-Pulse's Leger, might have been Life Policy won it at Wembley that year?

Just checked Leger results. Life Policy '87, Exile Energy '88. Didn't know that was Pulse's year

early round, funny how some dogs don't exist on greyhound-data, Westmead Pulse is one of them

Yes McGee trained Timmy, unfortunately he didn't win the Romford Puppy Cup, I don't think that he won anything..
(Was odds on for the Puppy Cup and the Arc) From memory he did a flying first round run in the Derby then went out next round... A supremely fast greyhound with no consistency!!!

I do not think it was the year tommy ran in the derby but was around the same period

Can anyone remember one year when Wimbledon had major problems with the first bend and numerous just kept running into the rails for no reason at all

About 10 to 15 ran into the rails during round

Including a flying machine from t3 was s big fawn and white dog

I think either de mulder or lister trained it

When Ballyregabn Bob got tailed off at Romford he nailed Sacha Bran. In the Final a very good Hove dog led him and he destroyed that. THe dogs name was AITCH BEE.

Ravage Again THE BIG WHITE/FAWN dog i remember was Heres Andy trained by  PaulStringer. Massive gambler. That was a flying machine.
