Would make more sense for the English leg to be Wimbledon Id guess- at least that way you've covered the tracks of all 3 derbys, but tend to agree that Honey would be 2-0 down before the Shelbourne leg
Report woodmanchester August 17, 2015 11:53 AM BST
Dont think much in it. Twilight would set off like a scalded cat and Honey coming close near finish

Zero point Honey going against Twilight, she would be beaten into oblivion. Forget the bitches Imo, Twilight would be odds on any against dog this side of the country over 480m.

Could be the shortest Derby favourite in history

What's the verdict now?

I am on my phone so cannot do head in hands man even though he is the real answer to the question!!

Ballydoyle Honey, we have one of if not the best bitch ever, older SPK regulars agree with that sentiment, she is definitely the best bitch I have seen from 15 odd years racing. She has wiped the floor this year with the bitches around the best and toughest track to win at in the Northern hemisphere, already won the Puppy Oaks and Irish Oaks and long odds on favourite for the Christmas Oaks final. She has raced the whole year long starting with the big unraced stake at Clonmel which she also won so has fantastic durability. She has clocked some amazing times around SPK, her run last Saturday when coming from way back with a strong runner on the bunny showed all her qualities, amazing speed, amazing trackcraft and stamina.

Versus

Forest Twilight, an extremely good bitch but really what has she done? Won a tinpot comp and breaking the track record around a track that's design is baffling and the track has only being in existence what? A little over a year or maybe 2? She won a few egg and spoon races around Sittingbourne against rubbish and a decent, that's all race around Wimbledon before bombing out in the English Oaks semi final, the English Oaks which incidentally is like the sheet on its comparable event in Ireland.

Some of the posts on his thread where frankly ludicrous, everyone is entitled to an opinion but if I where some I would keep those opinions quiet if they're as bizarre as this thread.

Semi final = second round
Report Flushy December 17, 2015 11:44 AM GMT
Obviously as you say everyone entitled to their opinions and certainly Twilight hasn't replicated Honeys form in top class races yet but using the oaks as an example when 12/13 weeks out of season was as borderline ridiculous as suggesting the opinions of a bunch of middle aged alcoholic farmers from a third world country would have any credibility at all.
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y December 17, 2015 11:55 AM GMT
I put down what she done all year, I didn't single it out. As for that even an alcoholic farmer cannot tell how long she is out of season when it says "season unknown" on her card
Report hectoratoratora December 17, 2015 12:34 PM GMT
The stand out runs of Twilight were imo her towcester runs ,and these were just before she came in season. Many bitches excel in the month before they spring into season. Be interesting if she can produce that type of run routinely.
Report woodmanchester December 17, 2015 1:39 PM GMT
They say back to form after 12 weeks, don't they? How long was she out of season in the Oaks, where disappointing?

12 weeks? You're only a urine stained pair of cordials away from being accepted into PFs SAGA group of clockwatchers at Shelbourne.

You seem most upset by what I have posted, suggest ya cop on and grow a thicker skin

When interviewed the common theme seems to be every one of their bitches that's been in season. That it's been heavy and has taken a lot out of them.

Twilight
Report Flushy December 17, 2015 5:30 PM GMT
Don't think anyone has said Twilights season was "heavy"- all that was said was she wasn't near fitness and wouldn't have been near a track unless it was the oaks.
Report lanza December 18, 2015 1:26 AM GMT
Bit the bullet and laid twilight tonight for the derby, almost reached my limit on her now.  Was a tough race, possibly the highest quality field she's been in with? a proper test and was interested to see how she would deal or cope with some pretty good dogs given my early derby position on her.

Fluffed the start and it was game over, but with all the claims on here, I expected some sort of improvement / I sat waiting for a mini recovery in-running (honey style) but was left disappointed and fired off the lay as they were crossing the finishing line.

Nasty loser now. She might go deep,  she might even win the derby but think the 50's generally available at the books is pretty short on tonight's display and can see her being a lot bigger come May.  (well I hope)

started to reply, got side tracked by the cricket then finished my post.  Didn't see the last post by Flushy until just now. Sad

Kinda explains that then.  Hope she recovers soon Flushy.

I gathered you owned her as you didn't seem happy by my views and am sincerely sorry she is hurt and knew it clearly was not her running last night. I hope she makes a quick as possible and full recovery.
