PL claims his dogs came off sore. That's the first time I've ever heard such a criticism, from anyone - owner or trainer. Sounds like a large dose of sour grapes to me. If they'd bothered giving Dream a prep. trial she might not have swung out so wide from the 4th bend and given up the ground she had made up so gamely after her poor start.

The towcester injury issues are well documented across all the sports media, its why they brought in a new groundsman and have had various experts there for meetings to inspect it and try and get to the bottom of it.

Sealey joins Towcester over concern with track TOWCESTER has appointed Jeff Sealey as a track consultant as the Northamptonshire venue reacts to an increase in injuries. Sealey will be preparing the running surface for all meetings with immediate effect Racing manager Chris Page said yesterday: "Several weeks ago we commissioned a report nto the running surface at Towcester which had performed well during the period from November to February before we began to notice an increase in reported injuries during March and April.
Sealey aims to make a difference at Towcester

TWO hock injuries marred Towcester’s fifth race on Saturday, won impressively by Heather Dimmock’s Blackstone Marco. Kevin Hutton’s Stanton Buster broke down at the first, while Barrie Draper’s Glenpadden Lord dropped out down the back.
Hutton said: “That’s our first broken hock here, these things sadly do happen, and he’ll have a happy retirement now,” while Glenpadden Lord goes to the vet tomorrow. Draper similarly said he had no complaints about the track.
Paul Clarke’s Miss Glis Glis was reported to have sustained a gracilis injury in the opener, while Whizzing Zebo faces a spell on the sidelines after a TFL muscle injury in the second.
Nevertheless, groundsman Jeff Sealey has received general praise for his work since joining the staff officially a fortnight ago.
The 78-year-old Sealey has a lifetime of experience which includes building the popular Coventry track and markedly improving Walthamstow.
He said: “I’m enjoying the challenge – we’ve tweaked things a bit, and it’s really about getting as much water as possible on to the surface during the summer. We’re also banking the bends, and plan to reshape the inside fence slightly to help them take the first. It’s a fair track and our job is to make it even better.”

Coming off sore isn't coming off with a serious injury. So how many broken hocks did we have at the other tracks over the same period? Any comparisons? How many broken hocks did we have in the Derby? And how many very serious injuries? And who cared? Because Towcester has a couple in rapid succession it's now the worst track in the country?! I don't think so. Serious injueiwa elsewhere are just forgotten about and never mentioned again. At least Towcester is trying to rememdy the situation. Is Wimbledon? Is Sunderland?

Well you tell me who highlighted the injury situation at Wimbledon, in the Derby, other than pat on here, after the "black" Saturday - 3rd round? Media wise - who? rpgtv wise - who? The £250K sponsor William Hill wise - who? Just Who? And who is now heading up the operation to make Wimbledon safer for the greyhounds? Tell me here - in black and white instead of blowing a fuse. Tell me "who did care"?

Loyal has a point imo(which he stumbled across by accident tbf when trying to deflect the topic) in that track preperation across the country has been an utter disgrace this summer,i dont know if its the individual tracks fault or if its as i understand it done under the direction of some gbgb track expert and therefore his fault, either way this summer has been a complete disgrace but towcester seems to cop the most flack.
Kev said to me when we were talking a few weeks back..."why do we rest dogs all winter to protect them from injuries yet we run through the summer when the injury rate goes through the roof?"...when i thought about it for a minute i have to say its a very good question...ive always been of the opinion that winter rest was the "correct" way...but ive never questioned why until kev asked (its one of those things i suppose i picked up as a kid and just assumed it to be true without ever stopping to think).
I mentioned it to my old man and he agreed it was a good question and proferred that it was possibly a throw back to the grass track era where the ground was largely unraceable through the winter...?

The main TOW point is that they had a massive chance of Building a Super Track ,some how they have managed to fk the whole thing up ,the straits are too short and bends too wide did anyone actually look at the plans Track appears to favour front runners ,If the cov track was moved to TOW you would have the correct track with What I have heard are Excellent facilities ,its a sad sitch tbh but just cannot understand how the track plans were approved ...

Because its an eight dog circuit for the Asian markets
Funny how the 8 dog tracks in USA and aussie land ain't do wide even allowing the inside hare
You had to laff last night when Dave was getting nervous at PL continually slagging off Towcestor and he replied sure will sort it
Like yer want gonna do
Dig the track up and start
Make the straights longer
And proper bends that are reasonable wide not like the M1 motorway
Towcestor are knackered as its an outside hare so can't change the width of the bends
If it had been an inside would have been much easier to narrow the bends
Basically the design is fooked up and goons cost too much money and time to change

Obviously not expert enough.Maybe its putting 2+2 to make 5 but when Chris Page was at the Stow he acknowledged that the tracks straights were too close together which resulted in a sausage shaped track that had very long straights and tight bends.Towcester is the other extreme.I wonder if CP was involved in the design and this led to over compensating.Just my wild guess.

Lawrence often comes across as arrogant, patronising and childish, when things don't go his way. Don't like the way he had a go at owners of other dogs after Roxholme Dream won during the leger.and in fact was chastened by his own partner. Because he watches a few videos of previous races he seems to think that it gives him some sort of divine right to winners or that his opinion is worth so much more than anyone else's. Roxholme Magic is undoubtedly a good dog but clearly has preferences for particular tracks as many dogs do- I remember that Bubbly Capel was very much like that as was Farloe tango and there are many many more examples. Doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with the track.
Every track is different and suits different dogs. Crayford and Romford are dodgem tracks- too much trouble because they're too tight, Many dogs run off at the 2nd bend at Sunderland, and at Sheffield the oval doesn't suit certain types. At monmore this year the surface has been atrocious.
Each track isn't perfect and has its issues. Having a go at towcester came across as bitterness because his dog didn't win a competition they felt they were entitled to win. Yes it's got improvements to make but if they take feedback on board and seek to improve then that's a good thing. Odd that he still runs dogs there the next week if he's so concerned? Maybe there's 10000 reasons why that happened?
The guy needs to develop a bit of humility and grow up

Really ravage? I'm not sure the connections of King Kane would agree after a heat win I think. Like them or not my comments were a reflection of how I perceive the guy comes across on TV. It may not be the intention to project that image at all and if so then fair enough

I see that Roxholme Dream improved fifty spots at the dreaded, dog-killing, Towcester last night! Was that because she came off "sore" last week - according to sour-grapes Paul Lawrence, or, because last week's first look round was a huge benefit? Over to you wonders - you're the expert, according to you.

TBH BBC I dont like the track Iv'e watched a few times ,Dogs appear lost to me on occasions, the track is far too wide and Straights too short ,as I said I enjoyed this evening and Sky racing was fair, TV trophy a good race to watch ,Sadly another dog broke down untouched if that's anything to do with surface is anyones guess ,seems strange the amount of watering going on

i dont like the track not even a finishing line.they did say you couldnt win with a wide runner but penny sea biscuit adageo bob see no gamble shot that down.the track is near the top of towcester hill and any wind dries it out.havent got the stats but iwould think most tracks have increased injuries in summer.in my pomp on grass tracks a lot of injuries came in winter and a lot of openracers were given the winter off. i have noted a lot of injuries at monmore my specialist subject this summer.
