took  11/4 to £200
walked away from counter
then told i t there had been a price change and the 11/4 was a mistake
told cashier that it was 11/4 when i had the bet...end of disscussion
then the manageress walked out and told me the bet was viod
i told her, the bet was in my pocket and was staying there and i would want paying if the dog won
dog got beat....
was told by manageress that i would have got paid because i did not give the slip back

do not blame her or the cashier, just doing what they were told by head office
WHAT A HORRIBLE FIRM, NO WONDER THEY ARE DOING NO GOOD WITH THAT ATTITUDE

starship BAC get them to come out to to try it on to get the slip back so they can void it. 100% you would be getting paid no dangers

had a bet with crooks about a year ago
took price was given slip and went home
the bet won
when i went back to shop some days later they said
"about 10 mins after you left after placing bet bac phoned and
cancelled the bet "
they put my stake in the safe and it had been sitting there ever since
they then tried to give me my stake back

i created merry hell and after talking to regional manager on the phone
whilst in the shop ,refusing to leave until they paid me
the regional manager agreed to pay me as a "gesture of good will"

this all took about 50mins and i also got lads to pay my parking meter charges

To be fair..the main problem, people are not betting like they did say 50 years ago
There is a lack of mug punters...

The bookies know the only one's left that bet in these figures are not mugs

But some are, so the bookies are making a trap for themselves
soon nobody will ever be able a get on

Also it is staff they employ, often they know nothing about gambling

ebulGery, there are plenty of people with chunks of money (from various life experiences)that sit wanking it away in betting shops. Lost soles passing there wealth on with no plan or purpose.

I am glad to hear safari, for somebody to win somebody else must lose
The bookmakers work off the margins

There has been a change. Years ago most people bet on horses and greyhounds, but not now.
Worse still there is no off course tax, which has hit Greyhound racing hard(although.my betting has benefitted)

The bookmakers margins are being squeezed, that is the problem. I hope greyhound racing survives,
particularly BAGS, it gives me something to do all day, I don't have no plan and purpose either since I am considered
too old to work.

the bottom line is firms pay peanuts so get monkeys they have no confidence in.

they will never head hunt the top boys and stick them on a good 5 figure or 6 figure salary to head up their dog trading team so there is real competition and turnover and variance across the boards. So therefore the situation will never change.

Imagine if Mark Trillwood from T@F and John Power were head of trading for a couple of the big firms, they would stand the money without twitching

the game went a long time ago when they realised betfair was in fact good for them
sadly it aint coming back and will only get worse with even more tedious restrictions, less pricing up etc

T & F done it in when they took on the likes of Tabor & McManus. They sucked him in, then put him to the sword. Sad

He was a right gent was Mark. They took all the punters on at the Stow and paid out with a smile. MarK once kindly gave me a lift to the Stow on a Saturday after a horse racing meeting at Newmarket. (in his nice air conditioned Mercedes Cool)
John Power on the other hand was a great bookmaker, but not such a friendly chap imho. Mischief

I did used to Admire John Power (Tom Jenkins) as a bookmaker. When his joint was virtually knocked over with a steamer. He used to take everyone's bets, then push the price out! Priceless! Grin

These companies would be better off employing staff to ensure correct and confident prices, than employ a regiment of traders solely to refuse bets.

Jenkins allways came for the coursing in clonmel back in the day, one night in the minella after a few seven ups he laid me an even 50k on a dog that was running in a final on the track on following night he won @6/4 they were the days a real man

thing is no matter what price the tissue man makes it
if it is shorther on betfair the price will be cut below the betfair price without laying a bet

I remember Power taking a bet at Harringay of 15 large on a dog Hillside something or other and it got beat

The dog was top class and run in the Derby getting to the 1/4 finals

How it got beat that night I don't know.
