If there any injuries and withdrawals before next round

They should give the spot/s to the fastest third/s in 5 runner heats

EbulGery

Did you mean 6 runner or do you have a vested interest in the fastest 3rd in a 5 runner heat?

no vested interest

If there are any vacant traps in next round, seems a pity not to fill them

I don't think it will happen though

Newbon used to say this, especially for finals. But to reinstate eliminated dogs would make a mockery of antepost betting?

Check out the 1968 Derby Final.  A quite disgusting decision to re-instate Camira Flash, after finishing 4th in a semi where a dog was adjudged to have fought. Maybe someone wanted an O.B.E. - he belonged to Prince Philip.  Of course the dog won the Final.  The ramifications would make themselves felt seven years later when Shamrock Point suffered the same fate, but wasn't promoted into the Final - and won the Consolation Final ( a very lucrative open race in its own right in those day ) in a time 40 spots faster than the final.

The only time a dog can be eliminated and reinstated this year is when they dead heat for the last qualifying place and lose the toss. Even then it can only be first reserve for the following heat in which the "toss" winner runs. Had that dog chosen a run off rather than the toss then the losing dog is out with no return even if the run off winner is subsequently withdrawn from the next round. (C) JK RPGTV.

What would they do if quarter race was void when would they re run it

I wasn't trying to dismiss your idea - my point was simply that the dog finishing third in a 6 dog heat was probably more deserving of this concession than one that finished third in a 5 dog heat.

Just sayin...

Yes but a dog finishing 3rd in a 6 dog heat is already through
I was thinking of those 3rds in 5 dogs heats...which I feel have been harshly treated this year
it is only for this round

Yes it is amazing how I argue things without even bothering to find out the facts firstBlush

Still I am against 2 through in first round, I feel it should be three

Still I see JK supports this idea of only two through in todays RP...still I have yet to read or hear
anything of intelligence from that bloke

graded racing is where its at Cool

let them pull this 2 dogs through in 1st round stunt again, long term you will see the overall quality of this comp decline and hopefully punters vote with their feet
