hadn't had a bet before the first round but bet riverside pat 50s and gaytime hawk 66s thursday day time. fancied them both strongly for their race pacey strong running types hopefully keep going.

Personally, had mixed fortunes round one. Very happy with Farloe Blitz, couldnt ask any more of Sidarian Blaze, glad added Eden The Kid at the 11th hour yesterday and despite his costly defeat when second the other night, okay about Riverside Pat. Plenty others still for profit but some running at a loss already
Very disappointed with Ballymac Matt. Went from aeroplane to quite ordinary and didnt think Blue Cafu showed that much before ko. Pair quite a blow. Knew i had to lose Brogan or Trigger really but wasnt happy with both crashing |

Oh, by the way PF. You say youre happy with what youve got but according to the list you pulished, youve only got Clares and Tiggy left, apparently Ward also. No Borneo, B*ylesports Jet, Norris, Fiery, Tommys, Vans Viking, Vimmerby or Laughil Bolt. Dont know about Woodying and Colliering dogs, think youre PFing your own dogs!

I posted the lays on the dogs you have named also (Borneo, Norris, Splendour, Viking, Vimmerby and Bolt)
I know exactly what i have left and am afraid of my life to post them as no doubt some Manc Bok will jump on the bandwagon |

Oh, okay. Good luck then. Dont think it will be semis or final now before i cover all the eventualities, hopefully
By:
covering all eventualities...........wtf...... you seriously going to back them all?
By:
Invested about £42 on the exchanges so far and £65 on line and high street. Come final probably be into the Derby for about £150. Really hoping my £345 dog gets there or maybe one or two £200 dogs. Some will be running to break even and dare say, some running at a loss. That's what usually happens past few years anyway. Wanting a result this year. Crokers not Salad would have been fine 2014
By:
any price, 10 on, can be value if the chance of that outcome happening is bigger than 91%.... there is no set price which determines something being value, a greater chance of the outcome happening than the market price available is what value is woody. simple as that.
By:
Addy, i would never want to risk £150 betting for nothing back. £50 single was my maximum bet ever but now £25 max. Biggest bets this year £20 and £15. I see the Derby as an investment, a savings plan, to yield a return at the end
By:
If I wanted a investment
I buy shares or south think of that manor Greyhound derby is a punt pure and simple !! |
By:
Yeah, keep saying I'm going to change my ploy. Sensible thing to pick maybe 3 out when runners announced and see how they do. Just usually get too wrapped up in it. The plan has been to get enough "value" early to cover at the end
By:
Past years, i remember people saying they wouldnt even have a bet until they had seen all dogs run on the same card. No mention of that this time around. Good idea to watch first round at least, then would have saved on Trigger, Brogan and Matt but wouldnt have got the price Eden. Seems swings and roundabouts really?
By:
Fancied Farloe Blitz early but even more after first round, after which backed him properly
By:
personally in most instances i would rather take 50s about a confirmed runner than 100s 6 months in advance. would rather back 2-3 dogs and accept ive done my money if they dont reach the final rather than 10-15 dogs. you add up all the 2,3,4 %'s of the dogs youve backed and before you know it you're essentially bet 4,5,6 to 1 youve found the derby winner. to me thats a bit mad, as you need a couple of finalists at least to have a chance of even drawing level - and if it goes wrong, it goes very wrong.
By:
antepost prices are weighted SO HEAVILY in favour of the layers. the over-round is over 200% a few months in advance maybe even 300%. i dont understand how or why they restrict bets, at those margins they should be accommodating nearly everything and looking to bring in as much turnover as possible. you dont need to lay every dog, 2/3rds of the dogs still gives you a 140% book and yeeah ok you might get 5 or 6 big reds but really the chance of them winning you have to be a layer taking it all in, some of them dont even make the track then some of them turn up not right, so much in favour of the layers.
By:
not one of last years six finalists was in the new year antepost list , a gigantic rip off given the make up of the current competition

By:
Lanza seems to be a very successful layer but he's still sweating for obscene amounts of money sometimes, it seems
By:
2 v salient posts addy, agree completely
its an ideal market for the books to lay imo but you gotta have a pair and a proper tank to do it on here so fair play to lanza |
By:
anyone who lays a book has to have a pair imvho , its a buyers market , punters can walk away.

By:
Have had one small bet so far - Ballymac Sinbad.
I now intend to bet Droopys Ward, Paradise Maverik, Farloe Blitz, Quietly and Beaming Bucko. |

Save The Don @ 80s & 60.74 (avg)
Droopys Ward e/w @ 66s and 50s Droopys Ward @ 20s (free bet) Bellmore Neymar @ 125s Clares Wonder @ 53.32 (avg) Lenson Tiggy @ 210.43 (avg) Roxholme Ted @ 66s Save The Don is my biggest winner thanks to some doubles with Peacock last week at Newmarket, obviously worried about the heat he has been drawn but he has been drawn well in it at least. Droopys Ward has long been my fancy for it, more for the e/w part of the bet, only played Bellmore Neymar after round 1 in which I thought he was impressive but he will have to trap much better with been drawn outside On Alert now, Lenson Tiggy clearly didn't get home but if showed some boot out of the 2nd bend and could go a few rounds more, Clares Wonder I am currently deciding whether or not to take some out of that bet or the lot, while I expect him to come on bundles for last week I don't like him when not drawn 6. Roxholme Ted is only a small winner, don't really like his draw either this week so will have to decide what to do with him. |

Yeah I'm on Neymar , Baile Miche and Maverick . That's about it at the moment. will have a look for a few 1000-1 shots before tomorrow night
