This is bad news for the sport. There are rumours that trainers are leaving as well. I posted concerns about the potential demand for a new track 40 miles from Coventry (failed) and a similar distance from Henlow (5 dog racing) but then heard the hype that Saturday nights were bursting to the seams, 8 dog racing was in vogue and the track was serving the eastern market. I wonder what the true story really is two months down the line, are the cracks beginning to appear or they will be painting over them with the "long term view" brush. Hesketh has a charmed history with business failures.

If Coventry can't make it pay then Towcester won't, full restaurant backing 20p combinations on the tote isn't a good business plan.

They will be making a fortune in the restaurants, not cheap by all accounts

Tote will be boosted once they open it to the foreign markets, that's the rumours via streaming.

Coventry had the best streaming ever but it didn't translate in more money in the tote pools.

Track is not up to scratch ,they had a massive chance to build a super track ,they have not done it ,the product is greyhound racing  ,not 5 star restaurants ,miles from anywhere ,massive  shame if it fails but if trainers are leaving already its going one way Sad

dont worry THE GUVS got plenty you don't  think the likes of Barry Johnson & Nigel Flowers paid £25K to stand even
they have more sense than that if they did I would think they are £50K behind by now

Was told that they are extremely short of wide runners and the mgmt had asked trainers to up the numbers if they can.  Like anybody is going to buy a wide runner to race there.

I heard on Saturday night in one race when the traps nothing came out of T5 and T6

People assumed dogs had turned in the traps

Then spotted that three dogs came out of T1

Had an enquiry and the handlers replied wide runners might as well stay in the van Laugh

The other thing I have noticed is that a lot of good dogs at Towcestor seem very moderate at most other tracks

Form aint carrying over much
