Five Bookies stood. Pick one was Barry Johnson,Pick 2 BG racing ,Pick 3 Quantam (aka b johnson) ,pick 4 Treble chance (unorthodox betting) and lastly Coulton and Flowers. The margins they bet to were unattractive for any discerning punter but the general public seemed happy enough to have a bet.In my view the position where they bet is poor,as they are slightly at the bottom of a dip which naturally means everyone is cramming towards them and access isn't good. The weather was fine on Saturday but as they have not got any cover presumably they will use umbrellas when it rains and I think this will impair viewing for the grandstand patrons. The amenities were superb and the track looked magnificent-it deserves to succeed and in the short haul am sure will be very popular.

There were early prices with a no. of firms (betting to a collective ca. 105%) so there was no excuse for them to bet to prohibitive percentages. It's greed and short sightedness. Regular punters have got used to betting on here with a ca. 5% deduction and with the firms with morning prices at around 105%. If they think significant numbers of non six pack type punters are going to bet to those percentages or the 122% overround equivalent tote prices(18% deduction) then I would expect them to be disappointed and to find a dwindling crowd. A significant no. of punters are also now used to beting from home with pictures. I can't see too many sitting in a betting shop for hours on end on a Friday, Saturday or any night for that matter.

beeb im not sure how that works...they were totepools we were betting into in the restaurant and there were totepool windows all around the place....then you have towcesterbet and i understand they have to send any signifigant bets back to the ring? So what towcesterbet is i dont know really,if i wanted a win bet or casts etc we just did it at the totepool terminal or at the table so does towcesterbet just replace any onsite betting shops or something else?

The screens in Towcesterbet looked as if they may have been Betfred rebranded and there were totepool windows as Patrick says. Max stake at a price was £50 , anything else was at SP.
