I've got a job lets go home, I don't want to be an on course bookmaker. Are you trying to defend those returns on what is after all supposed to be a celebration in the sport of a new track opening? Personally I think it will put off anyone who is curious as to how the track is going from attending. My brother lives in Bedford and that's not far away so could stay with him no problem but you know what, if that is the status quo for future meetings I don't think I'll bother...

you would have thought first night the bookies would have been told to put on a show,
having spent over 1.5 million on this project, when we used to bet at bags meetings
we were told what % to bet to,perhaps the bookies cant work it out.also with only 4
books betting straight it is ridiculous to let one man have 50% of the pitches are
you telling me there were no more applications?something does not ring true here.who represented
barry Johnson on his other pitch, and where does BG racing come from?

We did the dogs for about 35 years Dr Atkins.  When Leicester and Coventry closed we went heavily into horse racing rather than another dog track (we tried Nottingham very briefly).  Not done the dogs since the late 80s.  Didn't fancy Towcester in the winter evenings - its blinking cold enough during the day.

We could do Leicester dogs in 20 mins with a clear run.  Some winter nights the fog was so thick it used to take us an hour and a half.  One night we had the windows rolled down trying to see the kerb as we were going along as you couldn't see the end of your bonnet.  We dont seem to get those fogs anymore.

Though I have noticed last month or do on RPTV meeting if you put a £100 to £200 bet on even the second at the bet price. Would around 75 per of the time I am getting nothing matched

It's like BF seeding the market but the back getting cancelled before anything getting matched

It's getting even hard on here now to have a few hundred quid on

Just returned from Henlow and have received some very disappointing news if it is true, and applying the "does it seem probable" rule, I have to conclude that it is.It all revolves around the award of the BAGS contract and how much power it gives those who hold the purse strings of said contracts Ie the big four bookmakers.Apparently big Gary WIlshire turned up at Towcester first night and was told he could not stand. He has upset the big bookmakers in the past by putting up 33/1 about no-hopers but the big bookmakers don't like this as it obviously inflates forecast dividends in the betting shops.Taking this to its logical conclusion, if Towcester wishes to keep its BAGS contract , no matter what Mr Page says publicly he has to bow down to his paymasters and prostitute himself. Thus the majority of meetings will be held to ransom and the new dawn will not be coming soon. As long as the big bookmaking firms continue to be the financiers of the BAGS contracts nothing will change and I really cannot see how new ideas, new people ,or new tracks can prosper when they are all so dependent on the money from these greedy parasites.
