The GBGB have all the power, effectively control all of the money and are self-regulating, which actually means they are accountable to NO-ONE.
As someone once said......... A body of men holding themselves accountable to nobody ought not to be trusted by anybody. Why should they tell anybody their injury stats, how many greyhounds are unaccounted for, reveal how many positive drug test results they have posted etc. etc. etc? |

Donoghue called it "internecine warfare" about five years ago "which blights the present ruling bodies in the sport" ;
THe GBGB was meant to "to erase the existing regulatory and governing structures, with all their historical baggage of mutual hostility and non-cooperation"...."whilst remaining accountable at the highest level to the industry and the wider public it serves". there is still warfare and the GBGB is now at the centre of it .... it has FAILED completely imvho. |

The GBGB have completely failed the people who love greyhound racing. But the high street bookmakers will think they are doing a great job. Holloway was right about there being no future for the sport unless there is a fairer distribution of income and a willingness to be open about greyhound welfare.

Why is it that trainers who have been found guilty of dope offences on more than one occasion are still training. It would not happen in Horse racing. The GBGB say they are keeping the sport clean. They are not.

They are not keeping the sport clean at all.
In Australia they reckon 80% of trainers are at , EPO is the hardest thing to detect and they ain't put the money in to get enough swabs. |

GBGB only represent their own interests,completly clueless our great sport should be run by greyhound people that understand the game not people just making the numbers up till they retire,i no ricky not everbodys cup of tea but at least he has fire in his belly about the game myself why cant we use the godfathers of the sport who no the game inside out, your savvas dartnells linda mullins use their input just an idea

THERE were some 9,000 greyhound samples tested in 2013, of which just 32 returned ‘significant’ positive
The GBGB oversees the testing programme and are aware of the benefits of the hair follicle testing . Their "not insignificant" budget (as Faulkner said) is clearly too big and maybe threatening to reduce the hospitality budget. |

Having watched breeding being discussed last night on RPGTV I found myself asking the question what happens to those pups that don't make the grade. This is the masssive "elephant in the room" question that regulatory bodies and practitioners alike have to address. Many believe they already know the answer and frankly is unacceptable not to deal with this and answer truthfully. There will always be investigative journalism into greyhound racing while there is perceived abuse. Genuine practitioners are saddened by the brush that tars but what are they doing to ensure greyhounds are not just farmed for the benefit of the gambling industry. The GBGB must be more transparent in this and find the funding to resolve the problems if the industry is to have any future longterm.

Lets give it a try then . Like it or not there are still a dozen countries in the world where they eat dog meat , its no co-incidence imho that they encircle a country where 10,000 greyhounds go missing every year. Its somewhat typically English that you still think you can go around the world trying to change cultures or traditions that have existed for hundreds of years. Here in Ireland people breed greyhounds to race and to sell, to put food on the table, just like sheep or cattle, when your country eventually gets taken over by the muslims, they will be looking to take the bacon off your breakfast plate. See how you feel then pal. |

@irishone.....got me down as an anti then irish!!. Been a greyhound fan for years. If crowds are to return to the sport particularly in the UK matters of animal care or lack of it have to be dealt with. This is a fact. Most people know the real reason GBGB do not want to engage in public debate. When antis fire off I accuse them of being hypocritical the next time they sit down to bacon or a steak or their beloved pets eat the flesh of other animals. We all know that millions of animals never reach maturity because they end up as food. More has to be done by governing bodies..its an ongoing problem that has never been addressed because it is cheaper to euthanise no hopers.

Do you seriously think that the GBGB are going to stop greyhound euthanasia ? Apart from smashing their own golden egg...... they couldn't organise a pi55 up in the Guinness brewery. |
