As for your theory about ruining him winter months, he had 8 races December to March, but the fav for this competition and same trainer Candelight King had 12

When only half a length and a neck separated them in the semis, could someone kindly tell to me why Candlelight King and Conna Trigger are 2/1, yet Droopys Norris 12/1?

Would be hopeful he can beat Kildare Premier up. Candle not so easy but that seems a large gulf in prices

Don't think it's a particularly good card apart from the final and a few stars dotted about but done tissue anyway (First early prices always available with 365 from 5pm.) Think some will be strongly fancied and other races competitive. Will be interesting to me to see how last year's Derby winner Sidaz Jack copes over 500m.

Really looking forward to the final. Droopys Norris would be a big win by my standards. Got him each-way, that would be just half total antepost stakes back first four. Candelight King is running for double total stakes.

7.34, Stayers. Lowgate Jasper useful when things go to plan but Mottos Mixer could be the fly in the ointment, stepping up

7.49, Puppies. Billys Bullet seems accident-prone to me, Saffrons Anna has potential but looks skinny, so i'd favour strong local Final Hawk.

8.04 Sprint. Very competitive but still think i'm missing something at the price of Pinpoint Finas, very fast. Mustang Blitz looks a fair price as does Bowtime Fella. Add United Leeds 7 out of 10, makes it a tremendous betting race

8.19 Marathon. No interest whatsoever now Aayamzabella withdrawn

8.34 Standard. Sure Lowgate Rock should be more or less same price as possible fav Sailor Jerry on their Conna Trigger lines of form. Farloe Striker may vie for favouritism, rated him highly originally but become a bit disappointing for my money

8.49 Bitches. Missing something here too with Domino Storm. No Swift Keith and a Yarmouth Derby to cope with here and had some very, very good dogs behind her. Think she's been under-rated and short fav Catrigg Croft over-rated on current form

9.04 Standard. Pretty sure Sidaz Jack will struggle to keep going in front and if Pay Freeze can edge matters at the bend, he could prove successful, despite doubts about having a niggle, as he did when winning the Select Stakes. With question marks over the front two, others are respected

9.19 Steel City Cup Final. Already dealt with. Personally, everything crossed for Droopys Norris

Norris has ran an absolute belter there, never got a chance to stride out anywhere until the straight and was not beat all that far

Great night. Didn't drink but food excellent. Bit shocked with Underground Paul, would have settled for Conna Trigger. Stood near Kelly Macari, she was so disappointed . The big payouts would have been Freeze and Norris but never materialised. Still got plenty of winners, sitting with 6 out of 7 in the early races but mainly small bets. Pay Freeze badly wrong and was disappointed with Candlelight King. Pleased with Ballymac Daihi, Geelo Midnight and Pinpoint Finas though, proved slight compensation for Macari

Oh, Domino Storm ran poorly for an East Anglian Derby runner-up, imo

PF, Norris is going to miss the break 9 times out of 10 and will struggle from middle draws. He was never in the reckoning last night, imo

Never in the hunt. What I saw was Trigger leading them a merry dance with Candle giving chase to but no impression, pair clear 3rd bend. Underground bumped when trying to pass Candle last bend but barged through and did Trigger on the line, much to the dismay of Macari. Norris never seen with any kind of chance. Didn't see that but must have plugged on for third. Especially over the shorter Derby trip, would rather have Trigger at 66/1. By the way, you can have £3 Norris at 94/1 on the exchanges

He didn't come away great, surprise surprise, then he was really badly crowded and hampered run up, into the back and you can clearly see he never gets the chance to stride out, he was all over the back of the winner at one stage and then forced to check back inside as he drifted off onto his line, he then ain't beat that far at the line, all this on a track that clearly doesn't suit as it has f all straights which is no good for Norris as he is a 2 to 3 dog and does not win if not putting the race to bed by the 3rd. You want to moan about a dog running **** how about your beloved Candlelight King who turned in a perfect pitch and looked rather paceless around his home gaff

Didn't get back til 1.15am, Wonders. Took the Belle Vue coach, road closed had to take different route coming back, then onto mine where the motorway was closed and had to go all round the houses. Can cope on 6 hours sleep, sometimes much longer. Got stuff to do. Norris not as good as first reckoned and Candle has been brilliant this year
