The point is to encourage people to bet. What else do you suggest they do for their 3 hours or so on the show? While people regularly sl@g them off, I don't see anyone post their selections vs the presenters up on here for every race all night. I don't think anyone should expect them to show a level stakes profit for their selections on RPTV. We could only expect that they present the chances of the Greyhounds reasonably well. If you could do better, why not contact them and apply? Don't forget, the channel is free to air and the costs to the bookmakers proving the channel would be relatively expensive. We should be grateful to see the free pictures. RUK is ca £20.50 per month

I've never quite grasped why, if we have pictures, we need a commentary anyway!? I rarely listen, particularly to that t w a t Clarke (put the e in just to annoy the whinger) - who is always miles behind and just loves the sound of his own voice. judge hit the key point - it is free and often there are some good interviews which makes having to listen to tipping ( usually just for the sake of it ) every race just about bearable. The addition of Carly Philpott at the end-of-race interview spot with connections is a good one. She is learning quickly to ask good, coherent questions, and has secured some terrific interviews, and Julies visit to Charlie Lister was inspired. I actually emailed them in, when they asked for suggestions, to do such a thing. Whether they took it on board or did it themselves doesn't matter, it was a great innovation. The trainers and hands respond well to Carly with her industry experience and they trust Julie not to get wide and try and trip them up. Overall it is a great service which would be much missed were it to suddenly disappear.

Huggy Well said Honcho For years they've wanted new Traps, Romford get them, they moan.... Let's blame the Racing Manager, it must be he's fault that dogs are missing their breaks!!! Alan, Keith, you have been around long enough and know enough about the game not to listen to tipsters and the day that you do is the day that you should give up... The best opinion is your own opinion!!! Romford Greyhound stadium Providing entertainment and employment to a local community and long may it continue!!!

Me thinks that the last 3 posters have missed go racing's point- he is not swiping necessarily at the pundits tips, but merely pointing out that studying has become futile at Romford; this is because the introduction of the new traps has made it difficult again for punters to get a handle on the form. The iron lady is right in that the breaks are incredibly staggered and very inconsistent, following the introduction of the new boxes. I agree with Keith in that there seems to be a thought process from K0ral to keep coming up with ideas to continually put a spanner in the works for the form student at Romford. And yet the bookmakers that own the track haven't a) got the b@lls tp price up the graded races there or b) lay a reasonable bet. In fact the other main high street bookmakers that used to price up, now no longer continue to do so. I went to Hove last night and spoke to a local well respected judge and i felt he made a very valid point that, since the introduction of this new GT hare system, there are a far higher percentage of ungenuine greyhounds, again making it extremely difficult for punters. I understand Keith's frustration, because like me - he has got a passion for his local track and the enthusiasm to study hard to find winners is being squeezed out by management at the stadium. Reduction of the camera angle, going bias' and strange trap draws have all caused punters and owners (and track bookmakers)to lose heart in the place, which is very sad for everyone that enjoyed "the good old days".

Spot on Paul, that is exactly what i was trying to say. If Romford was 100 miles away i wouldn't give a damn but it is my local that i am trying to support but as i have said, the low level camera angle, new staggered starts, false watering system, etc.etc. means that pastures new have to be looked at because animated bingo aint for me!

I haven't bet at Romford since the traps changed, used to love Friday nights . The new traps have turned the stats upside down and would add that all track owners appear to "keep coming up with ideas to continually put a spanner in the works for the form student" and the stats analyst. To see the form students complaining is another thing in my book , what it means is that the results should be even more of a lottery than they were before and I was making money from backing big outsiders , many of which I put up on here ! I have already put up the basic results in terms of slower sectionals and changes to the proportion of trap winners but your complaints suggest I should be looking elsewhere to find an edge there now.
