Jim Petherwick (a.k.a Pepper)...... He was a one off, such a lovely man.... "This is my Nap" was heard about 3 times every meeting... I always wanted to name a dog "Peppers Nap"..... I knew him at Crayford when he worked for Stan Kennett , he used to only own Brindle Dogs, wouldn't buy any other colour, he owned the great Hot Work.... R.I.P Pepper

Hackney Wick my all time favourite track. Saturday morning before SIS was all Extel commentary only. you had to go to see live racing. Always sunny. Eddie Selby No.1 book, with Harry Hyman (tic tac),Doug Tyler & Hutchinson. Henry Colebrooke,Maxen, Annetts main trainers. Sloop John B my fav dog. And I used to travel down from Bedford, Bus No33 St Pancras to Hackney Wick, over the bridge past the Hackney marshes football pitches, and the Lesney Toy factory (Matchbox toys) by the side of the track. Oh the wonderful memories.
