Serious question - you got a push-bike t.r.?

its the total lack of customer service in baldies shops that most winds me up.
i have only found 1 shop where the staff are not permantly depressed and miserable.

as for getting on,
football upto £250 on a coupon - no problem provided its not a 4 fold or bigger
football over the counter - £100
football in play - £50

dogs - £between £50 and £90 - depends on which one of the smiley people is working
3 figures ALWAYS gets rung in.
ALWAYS
maybe its my local shop, its no big for dog punters.
usual FOBT addicts, irish lottery grannies and saturday football mug punters

no matter who you are, 3 figures on a dog always results in the miserable staff reaching for the phone.
even on the BAGS

Dav - most are treated like chit by their firms and most are treated the same way by the current generation of customers, i.e., the button-pressing junkies who complain that " you've ruined my life" ( they read it somewhere ) before they proceed to smash up the machines.  Not at all a job I would now relish.

i was restricted tote/baldfred online for no reason recently and told I would be UFN and I cannot think why. I wanted £50 Evs on a Sky race and I ony use them online every now and again, perhaps once a month.

in shops (London) they seem to have £200 limit whether they know you or not, and regardless of odds
By:
Dav_vin03
When: 04 Feb 14 22:03
so why is the limit higher in london than the midlands?

from memory there are 3 fred shops in my radius and not one takes a dog bet of 3 figures or more without getting permission.

Yest I was ina  baldfred in N London. I rushed there after cancelling my 6/4 Odell bet with Hills as non runner SP, and boldfrod was 11/10, when I got there I collapsed on table, and thought about it for 10 mins and decided not to bet Odell, in this time a russian or east european guy was playing 2 FOBTS (roulette) he was banging teh machines, elbowing them and kicking them hard over 10 mins, he ket running out of money and cursing, but ket drawing more of his card. I saw him draw £1200 of his cards in 10 mins. he said (not in a big headed way) to cashier he was arguing with, he put £7k in machines the previous day, cashier nodded in agreement. he wanted to draw his last £80 out of one machine and put in another he was playing as it was broken, the screen was frozen because he had smashed into splinters with his elbow..but cashiet could not get money out and he was angry,  the cashier came out and assessed it, the guy said sorry in a genuine way(despite strking machines for 10 mins) cashier put out of order sign on it,,,guy did all his money and left, the 3 machines left imediately full with no hopers (but skint ones) cashier did not care, was nice guy, did not call police just carried on business as usual.  But I cant have any money on online fixed odds, or £205 on a 2/1 shot in shopCry

Dav_vin03 was told by 2 Co ral managers separately in central London residential area 3 months back...any bet over £50 phoned through...ANY bet on BAGS that is odds on phoned through (any amount even £1)
By:

When: 04 Feb 14 22:15
Dav   the £200 is limit when phoned through that ive experienced.
By:

tough I think Co ral allocate different limit to different shops in same area
By:

When: 04 Feb 14 22:17
I believe you Swayne but the logic behind not taking an odds-on bags bet defeats me.  The ratio of losers is massive compared to other dog markets.
By:
Dav_vin03
When: 04 Feb 14 22:35
agreed,
and it shows no faith in their traders if they cant take a decent bet on the bags.
Its not as if baldy even offers the best prices on the BAGS, they are normally a digit or two below Hills IMO.

But how s that possible?
How about the office worker who fancies a £5 flutter on a dog while having his lunch?
It makes no sense

I agree lads. bonkers. but bird in Coral Kilburn who was on own in shop was very clear re the £50 phn through to head office on all dog bets.  she said it was driving her and her staff mad.  what was even more bonkers is that shop near her, in v posh area, manager was complaining he is now only allowed to pay a cleaner for 3 hours a week.  shop is open 8.30am - 10pm every day, they have 4 or 5 shop racing posts in there, have high rolling horse regular punters every day, packed from lunchtime til 5pm every day except Sunday, and the shop now nearly always looks a garbage holeCryCry

just to be clear above " have high rolling horse regular punters every day"....I meant big punting customers that bet on horses...not customers who are actually big horsesDevil
By:

When: 04 Feb 14 22:59
funny thing is that by money value I would say 95% of money those punters bet that sit in shop most days bet either on their iPad on Betfair or on their various phone accounts...

I have 2 guys who put on for me in London and they have lost count of the amount of shops they have been refused in. The strange thing is when they are winning they get a decent run  but when they are loosing they get the sticks up. I think a lot depends on who is working in the shop. never thought I would ever say this but lads crooks seem to be the best of a very poor bunch with baldies and jokeorals being the worst

some of you are  lucky £25max in our local shop if you fancy a trap challenge on the greyhounds.

Apparently PP in Soho will take chunks. A racing acquaintance (who is not a bullsh*tter) told me he recently escorted his friend to that shop to have a £10k bet on a horse and the young woman who took the bet didn't bat an eyelid. Not much help if you live outside London but useful to know if you ever fancy a lumpy bet!

are they working to the £100 liab for the bags?
One of the girls who works at freds mentioned your not meant to allow anyone to win more than £100 on the greyhound coveraqe (BAGS).

Went into a baldys shop today, place was empty.
No mugs on the FOBTS, and no mugs like me playing the morning BAGS.

After placing by bet, got asked i I would like a free go on the machines!
She later confessed they are being told to keep the machines occupied and encourage punters onto them.

Baldy....the worst barring none, surly underpaid staff (minimum wage, managers on not much more), what so you expect with that repulsive individual at the helm. I dont even bother with them now.

Coral, better staff, but cant do with them referring almost everything to trader.

Lads....best on high st, but not what they were...could get £390 on a dog no probs (under 400) up until 18 months ago, now its under £200.

Hills....Can usually get £120 on a dog in shops, however via internet waste of space...tried to have £140 on a dog off bags other night, spinning clock £16 offered and account restricted to £0 after (dog lost, didnt move in market). Account was a "clean" account which wifey had for years, betting mostly £5 ers and the odd tenner, so they may have software alerting to higher stakes than normal, who knows.

Its all shambolic in my view, the judges are more clued up than the traders, pay proper money and get some marker makers you trust, whos opinions matter, make a book (particually sky nights) and you might make money.

the judges are more clued up than the traders

this is the problem , the traders these days have very little idea there only point of reference is betfair and in the morning on the dogs there is no betfair market

so when the bets come flooding in at 8.am they panic and
heavily restrict or sp  the punter

as you say get a trader you beleive in and lay a bet

Update,
we have a break through!

I had to use a baldys shop this week to get on with a fancy on the morning BAGS.
The cashier apologised he couldn't a bet over £50 and recommended I use this new thing called BETFAIR.
HAHA, I played along.
He is a real fan.
'I cant believe anyone bets on the high street anymore'.
He Knows.
Fred wont be happy one of his managers can see them for what they are.

He let me split my bet on to 2 slips and put them through to get my stake.
Sadly Jamestown Prince came 2nd, but it was nice to see not all Baldys managers are as miserable and mean as the great leader.
