Hills early betting:
3/1 Cornamaddy Jumbo
5/1 Droopys Stevie
5/1 Castlelyons Cofi
6/1 Razldazl Butch
12/1 Westmead Bertie
14/1 Bar
Bigger 16/1 apiece Glenpadden Post and Assassin Eight

Have it on good authority Cofi the one to beat so had a nibble. Probably again if ending up bigger elsewhere

Good luck!

Report BETTY January 27, 2014 2:29 PM GMT
As a  massive fan of hurdle racing I thought last years Springbok was possibly the worst in living memory and with the exception of possibly four hurdlers the bunch I have seen at trials and in trials stakes this year are probably worse.

It is all well and good being fast on the flat with a kink but the majority of these cannot jump.

Droopys Stevie, Westmead bertie and Razldazl Butch are the three for me and are short for a reason. Some of those trading at 16's and 20's are 50s chances if not higher

Outsider to make the final if they seed it correctly Springwood Ali (needs to be seeded Middle)
Report FATTIEWHITEYSLOVEADRINK January 27, 2014 3:46 PM GMT
I've backed the jumbo
Raw pace just hope he keeps smashing out like he can
leave the playing till after the line! would of thought he have a look some stage this week
Might play assasin ew fast as anythink about just don't won't him hitting the front till the last !
Report bannahan January 27, 2014 5:51 PM GMT
BETTY is spot on. From a comp that got me into Greyhound racing(My first proper bet was on SELBY BILL), and used to be a real favourite of mine, last years comd was hardly that. This year is not much better but from what i have seen or think could happen DROOPYS STEVIE is the dog i would be siding with. I have not played a bean yet but probably will do for nostalgia, but if you go back 10 years or even less this used to be a cracking comp which attracted alot of interest.
Report eyeball January 27, 2014 6:26 PM GMT

Razldazl Butch impressive victory in a trial stakes tonight
Report BETTY February 2, 2014 11:24 AM GMT
Someone needs to buy the RM some glasses and a calculator. Some of the racecard comments from last night are beyond belief for the Trials stakes are hilarious.

Best Springbok in years according to some. God help us
Report FATTIEWHITEYSLOVEADRINK February 2, 2014 11:56 AM GMT
Butch had solo when the two moved off
that two had a major look in running !
her other heat winner took off down the back than seemed to stop rd the 3-4 bend
than got on with it !
I don't this being a major comp where 5 or 6 can win
I only see two dogs winning it
there front two in the market !
Report woodmanchester February 2, 2014 12:40 PM GMT
Not so sure Fatty. Butch still did a time and heard theyre quietly confident about Cofi
Report woodmanchester February 8, 2014 6:37 PM GMT
Things hotting up with four cracking trial stakes tonight. Apart from antepost fav Cornamaddy Jumbo and Droopys Stevie, all the big players go through their paces and wouldn't surprise me if the outright winner is amongst them.

Only had thrown one dart so far 5/1 Castlelyons Cofi, but eased out to 6/1. If doing well tonight, might top up when others priced up.

Not really the biggest fan of hurdle racing, but think there could be some jumpers to follow come out of this year's competition

Does anyone know if Romeo Acclaim is alright after that fall in the second trial stakes? Didn't show it on the stream.
Report woodmanchester February 8, 2014 9:42 PM GMT
Acclaim fine apparently, Toteboard.

Castlelyons Cofi impressive Happy. Led just before the bend, drew clear and beat Teejaysblackhawk and Be Real very easily, 29.62.

Westmead Bertie utilised the inside to kick on the rails first bend, beat Newinn Hawk. Razaldazl Butch no kind of run, stayed on for third

Assassin Eight moderately away, early pace, led and cosy enough. Bubbly Jaytee ran on for silver, 30.28.

Viva Las Bocko won the other race, 30.36.
Report Catford Toteboard February 8, 2014 10:19 PM GMT
Thanks Wooody, glad to hear :) TBH, these trials don't really tell us a lot in my experience, except who to avoid.
Report woodmanchester February 12, 2014 9:38 AM GMT
Antepost fav Cornamaddy Jumbo has disappeared on Oddschecker, but pretty sure it's just an error. Indeed, the top 3 in the betting, Jumbo, Razldazl Butch and Castlelyons Cofi are all due to compete against each other in a trial stakes this Saturday. The outcome should be very informative. Be Real and Bubbly Jaytee add to the interest in this 5-dogger
Report FATTIEWHITEYSLOVEADRINK February 12, 2014 4:12 PM GMT

id rather bet on there being no more rain for rest of year than the Spingbok...fast dogs that can and cant jump, slow dogs that can and a bit of both.  hmmm
Report irishone February 12, 2014 5:29 PM GMT
agree Swayne . With entrance limited to those dogs who have not won a hurdles race before the start of this year, the outcome looks anything but certain.
Report woodmanchester February 12, 2014 5:59 PM GMT
True Swayne, but every now and then a gem gets earthed up. Looking for a novice who could run up a winning sequence Wink
Report LoyalHoncho February 12, 2014 7:24 PM GMT
Did you see that Cornamaddy savage his nearest pursuer just after the line the other night?  How could anyone have his or her hard-earned on that?
Report woodmanchester February 12, 2014 9:48 PM GMT
Some "thinkers" get distracted when overtaking a much slower dog. They are bred for hunting, after all?

Report woodmanchester February 13, 2014 6:08 PM GMT
Case, different divisions. Racing manager has no option but to put best entered dogs in the top heat? Agree though, should be discretionary

Report woodmanchester February 20, 2014 12:49 AM GMT
Cornamaddy Jumbo was recently 5/2 but must have been disappointing in the trial stakes, coz now 5/1 each of three with Castlelyons Cofi and Razaldazl Butch. I didn't see the race. What's happened to Droopys Stevie, was prominent in the betting but now disappeared?
Report BETTY February 20, 2014 12:42 PM GMT

Jumbo - didn't stay

Poor competition over all. Between Bertie, Butch and Cofi in that order for me

Looking at Heat 4 you would have to wonder how many will get round lol. Cash Game swerves all over the place. Springwood Ali (how the hell has that been seeded rails) will be in trap S by the first hurdle. TJ's will move left. Forest Com will need to break and Alittlelesslip will need to hope that Bee Eff Gee doesn't bite his head off

Report woodmanchester February 21, 2014 12:11 AM GMT
Liberator, that's quite common in hurdle racing. Theory is dogs have to focus on a obstacle, leaving less time to be interested in other dogs
Report woodmanchester February 22, 2014 11:07 AM GMT
Starts in earnest tonight with main players all drawn apart, hence some very short ones: 4/11 Razaldazl Butch, 11/10 Strawpedo Jet, 8/13 Westmead Bertie, 4/7 Cornamaddy Jumbo, 4/6 Castlelyons Cofi - all not for me thanks. Might just have two little stabs, 5/1 Be Real and 11/2 Teejaysblackhawk.

Good luck!

might make final 3rd fastest time saturday not on hare level could nearly

lead round friday ,hopefully ,not doing much damage at price either way Cool
Report woodmanchester February 28, 2014 4:53 PM GMT
Crunch time re-qualification for nearly all remaining, with the possible exception of Razldazl Butch. He already looks in the final if repeating last run but agree with Case, Killinan Klass has a golden opportunity to go through. Nearly put the forecast up on my "10 bets" thread at 3.2/1 but with hurdles not my fav betting medium and Forest Com only doing just enough in his races, a pear-shaped result possible.

So, just rooting for Castlelyons Cofi to reach the decider. My only antepost pick on the strength of a "quiet word" he's still 5/1 but got to this stage comfortably. Hot semi with Cornamaddy Jumbo and Westmead Bertie in there pitching too, but fingers crossed.

Against early prices, think Assassin Eight and Scolari Express will stake their claims in the first semi.

Good luck!

2 Scolari 14/1
3 Butch 6/4
4 Dino 66/1
5 Jaytee 25/1
6 Jumbo 6/4

Unlucky Case. Klass looked certain to qualify levelling for home but seemed to just down tools approaching last flight, lame?
