Been to watch a greyhound I have a small share in run tonight. Was told midway through the meeting that my greyhound could not possibly win because it was running against a greyhound owned by the management. The dog in question was having its 1st race. When in the betting ring the TRIAL DOG was backed from 6/4 To 4/6 needless to say it Won by 6L after missing its break 3L. People that I see normally betting in £10 were betting in £100 and I also track staff were betting the dog. I didn't bother to have my normal £10 on my little dog and wont be attending the track again as I have given my share away to the other owners. No wonder the game is in the state its in !!!!!
I USED TO ATTEND VIRTUALLY EVERY MEETING THERE THAT HAPPENS TIME AND TIME AGAIN IN END GAVE UP GOING EASIER TO FOLLOW RPGTV AND YES I DID OWN A DOG THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO.DO MISS IT BEING THERE BUT THATS LIFE

can understand you being a little annoyed. the same firm had 2 other well backed winners on the same card. race 13 154.9% race 14 155.1% race 15 145.7% suprised that anyone bets at all

The dog in question is called Pewsey Carnival, he is owned by me and my friend. We have precisely NOTHING to do with 'the management', we are just normal blokes who own a couple of dogs at the track. I bought the dog from the breeder at 8 weeks and we have been patient with him as he had one or two problems when he was being schooled. It was lovely to watch him win last night, but I would have been happy if he had just had a good race and come off sound.
My mate lives in Guernsey and didn't bet him. I never bet heavily, I had a tenner on the Tote where he paid over 2/1. He certainly looked to have been given a decent chance based on his trials, I assume that is why he was backed from 6/4 into 4/6. I think the biggest bet struck was by a bloke who normally bets in large numbers anyway.
A less accurate example of a 'job dog' it would be hard to find.
