My type of dog. Credit to the game and profession. Why the doggie top - brass aren't lauding this up is beyond me. If Scotty was an 'oss it would be on the FRONT PAGE of all the daily papers. Jonathan Kay:

Let's not beat about the bush here, anyone who witnessed his horrific accident at Kinsley in the Gymcrack final in April, which I did at very close quarters, when he was knocked over at the first bend and ended up crashing into the outside wall, was left fearing for the September 2011 dog's life never mind his racing career.
Initial reports of spinal damage were ominous to say the least but his owners - Scott Fraser, Daren Johnson, Alan Thomson and Simon Wooder - went the extra mile and trainer Dean Childs has always said that a not inexpensive MRI scan on the dog was key to resolving exactly were needed working on.
It was a long, slow labour of love but Dean, partner Mim Emment, Carly Philpott and the whole team kept believing and gradually the results became evident. Full movement returned and, incredibly, some four months after the dreadful incident, he was back on track being handslipped at Hove.
When that went well, it was time for trials, 240m first and then 285m and this is where the story became truly sensational as the times he recorded were scarcely credible culminating in him getting pretty close to the legendary Jimmy Lollie's track record.
All those were in solos, however, and the big question was how would be fare when in with other greyhounds. It would have been understandable if Kinsley had left mental scars.
Well, when he missed his break in Thursday's open it meant we were going to find out as Sidaz Scotty was faced with a wall of greyhounds in front of him. But he did not flinch for an instant, tearing the bend with that incredible early pace which had so made him stand out as a pup, taking command and going away to win in style.
It was a moment that I never thought I'd see and is quite simply one of the most heartwarming stories I can recall in my time in the sport. Fantastic credit must go to all connected with the dog who only acted with his welfare in mind but might, just might, now have a champion back. Whatever he goes on to achieve though, I'll not forget the emotion I felt watching that comeback win.

Dog of the year, LOL have you been drinking?
It won an open at hove in which the t6 dog only danger got hampered on the run up, woopie do Then it won a few puppy races at Kinsley, if I owned a decent dog would never put it around Kinsley, the first bend is awful. How many Charlie lister dogs do you see around that awful gaff. If its such a good dog should never had run it at Kinsley in the first place and would not have been injured. SIMPLES Can not even be sure it stays 480m yet |

its a great little story
the dog at one stage could not move let alone win a sprint race in what 16.14 ****g flying time for what happened to him. spoke to someone in the know hes to be kept to 2 bends till next year must be great seeing your two dog sitting at top antepost market for the derby, and again the leger |

Scotty seems to have made a full recovery. So pleased after his near-fatal injury. Very fast hound and good luck to all concerned

Yes I had had a snifter or two however is a truly remarkable story don't you think even for those a little cynical about the value of the form. True Kinsley is a bit up and down and in retrospect probably shouldn't have ran a supremely quick dog there. Fall was horrific and the doggie not only got up (YIPPEE) but seems is fully rehabilitating. That's what dog racing is all about because doggie people do care. |

Dont know what he might not get a good 4 bends is all about. Scotty got a 28.19 on his card 480m Monmore when known as Droopys Marshall

If you read the article it is obviously not meant as a literal plug for "Dog of the Year" but is certainly "Story of the Year" for ALL true greyound racing enthusiasts. Anyone who was there at Kinsley (I'm guessing you weren't Ravage) would have witnessed the gut wrenching sight of this dog being clipped from behind at the notorious first bend then crash into the concrete, outer wall only to get up a few seconds later, quite obvioulsy dazed, disorientated and in severe distress and continue to try and run down the back straight. It was touch and go whether he would make it out the vets room that night and he was literally unable to walk for almost two weeks after the event. The time, effort, care and attention along with a significant investment that went into helping Scotty make a full recovery without any guarantee that he would ever grace the track again is testament to everyone involved with the dog and the fact he has come back in the manner in which he has is worthy of the headlines the dog has received. There is still a way to go with Scotty but I genuinely think he could well be the fastest dog in the country if he stays sound. As for the assumption he might not get 4 bends, that really is clutching at straws - and as someone who has had plenty on at 50's for next year's Derby, I'm quite happy to put my money where my mouth is. |

I wouldnt be too hard on Ravage. Realistically, Scotty still got to prove himself in Derby class but that's not saying he wont. Some may just see him as too short for the Derby at this stage. Heart-rending story though.

 lot of bad things happen in our sport, must big up the good things ,have to agree about kinsley was not the greatest choice ... |

If he had said comeback of the year then fair enough Good luck to the doggie and it's great to see him back on the track Though please do not run it at Kinsley ever again I mean look at what happened in the three TV heats a few years ago, each fav was mullered at the first bend and no chance |

What you said was heartfelt and that's what the doggie forum is about .. opinions and we respect them. I used to go to Kinsley when it was a flapper. They were the days. And Whitwood and Cleethorpes once and the old Donnie track on York Road near the Sun Inn. What a place that was. Remember painting the old turnstiles and finding old programmes when it was registered and will always remember The Rosebowl. Anybody old enough on here to remember that? |

Its a great story...Was at the toilet that is Kinsley that day, miracle that dog is alive let alone posting those times, was a truly horrible incident....im surprised the dog isn't **** mentally after that despite its physical recovery.
Hope he goes on to win something big. |

1/17 early price, so didnt even look at race nor saw it but apparently, Scotty wasnt that well away but flying time. Even modest sprinters are nippy, so he seems sure to show up well early against standard distance runners and sure he stays. Still think his antepost Derby price too short but suspect he's going to do very well, hope so
