given, reportedly, BAGS pays each track £8k-£10k per meeting to tracks to screen their meeting in shops, and yet RPGTV does as good/nearly as good a job and, reportedly, pays the featured track just £750 what do you think is likely to happen?
By:
They could show all the races from their own tracks, presumably this would affect the bags contracts
By:
personally think RPGTV will take over from BAGS

By:
I could see it going 7 evenings (& possibly all day Sat 7 Sun), but am unsure how successful Mon-Fri day coverage would be given the majority will be at work

reason i think it will take over from BAGS is the cost |

The non-bookmaker owned BAGS tracks would not survive without their BAGS revenue. They quite rightly would not allow RPTV to televise their meetings for a relative pittance. |

By:
and do you think the big three would care ?
By:
pompey, what if BAGS stop paying? its majority owned and controlled by bookmakers after all. im sure they are asking WTF are we paying $8k a meet when RPGTV do it for peanuts
By:
c£8k

Won't be taking over from BAGS any time in the near future. BAGS margin is reliable and a proven product, the 8k or whatever they pay is still absolute peanuts compared to what they turnover on it, margin on RPGTV is less so can't see them switching yet tbh, however what it does do is make BAGS work extra hard to provide a solid product knowing that at any time in theory the big 3 could just tell bags to do one.

By:
Can I also clear something up, the big 3 are NOT BAGS. BAGS is a totally seperate company. The big 3 pay BAGS for the service.

The big 3 do not own enough tracks to cope with the demand, hence their need to continue withh BAGS agreements with other tracks. |

The BAGS boss is also the boss of the Fund. I believe he is also still Chairman of Assn of British Bookmakers. The Bookmakers preh put all the income into the Fund which funds the GBGB. Many say Bookmakers dominate and/or control all boards that matter.
