my vote goes to coventry

nice run to the first bend , excellent running track , and  easy enough
to come from behind if good enough

accessable for all and massive carparking facilities
the stadium also has massive potential to be improved

2nd choice rommers because i can fall out the local boozer and still get home Laugh

Its been in deep south for long enough so i hope they bring it to Newcastle.

Monmore would be the obvious choice for me but it is Sadcrooks owned.Coventry would have to be opened for at least another 2 years imo to be considered because last i heard it was running at a loss?

If you asked me where i think it will go then the answer would be Hall Green.

for me wimbledon, but that said, the facilities are a disgrace and simply nowhere near good enough. the "new side" is just a full blown horrible experience with nothing to like about it, viewing, decor, toilets, cleanliness, atmosphere, all really grim. If the facilities were top notch and it was back around the other side I don't think this should even be a debate to be honest.

don't think wides are given enough of a chance at BV/monners, as for wimble its a sh1thole and thats being kind to it

Doncaster has one of the best running tracks in the country imo. I presume the facilities aren't up to it though? Not been there.

Flappy you cant be serious. I know Charlie likes the place but surely too far for most, though i do like to be beside the seaside, oh i do like to be beside the sea. Same with Hove and 515m too far for many Derby dogs. Newcastle, too, a long way to go for those south of Watford.

Stow, Donny has a cramped feel to it, dont think it would be suitable. Sheffield have issues with the running surface and like Notts, 500m not ideal for speedy entries.

Midland tracks Perry Barr, Hall Green, Monmore possible and sure they would throw their hat in the ring if opportunity arises.

So all in all, think Coventry would get my vote, although from a biased point of view it would be Belle Vue.

Oh, re-Coventry. They do have to start putting the dogs in the right traps though! Laugh

But my vote goes to Hove, a true and fair test of 4 benders, giving greyhounds of various styles a chance, unlike most other gaffes.

Obviously the big negative is it's location.

A small price to pay.

Wimbledon is a thoroughly souless dump, completely devoid of any character and is basically an unpleasant track to visit now. I absolutely loathe what it has become given the glory years that I had going there watching the greats and mixing with the characters.

The obvious track to hold the English Derby is without question Monmore.

I'd think it should stay at Wimbledon. Yes it's a hole now, but it still has some tradition. If not there then Hove as good track, facilities and atmos. and night out location accepting it's many miles to get to for many.

Wimbledon is a good fair track. As is Coventry, Wimbledon has poor facilities, but so has Coventry. And it's not really Coventry anyway is it, it's on the miles and miles out of town fringes of Coventry where nothing is happening.

Yeah, Brandon is in the sticks a bit but within easy reach for people coming from north or south, with close location to motorways. Would still only be a taxi to an hotel, like it would for Wimbledon?

Also, think it as central as you're likely to get for trainers

Shelbourne does well with all its competitions. We need a flagship too and with investment, could be Coventry or Belle Vue
By:

When: 09 Apr 13 17:07
Belle Vue is the home to the first ever dog track in England, so would be appropriate
By:

Shelbourne is a quality setup, but it greatly lacks the atmosphere of old Wimbledon and the Stow imo

the derby would be good at Coventry, it has the space, location, and proper dog people involved in the place

i haven't been to the English derby final since the track has been changed round i find going there upsetting to an extent

I agree, remember my first trip over and when the jolly went around in front the place erupted Laugh place has no athmosphere anymore now on the wrong side Plain

we just need somewhere to have it for a couple of years while pascal rescues the disgrace of what Wimbledon has become.......the vision, if fulfilled would prove a very suitable home for our premier classic....

I think unfair comparison cos' SPK is single side (stand) compared to Stow two sides and old side Wimbledon - which was 360 deg full in old days
By:
Czechbet
When: 09 Apr 13 17:32
because nobody can see anything anymore PF lol

i feel at Shelbourne you have limited choices where to stand etc just in 5th gear the whole time

old wimbledon, you could go round cheap side for couple of races that you were not interested in and get a beer sit in terracing with your mates etc, now just like being in a pen of sorts... and a pen you cannot get good viewing out of Angry

thats my point single side tracks do lack the atmos, but they are a necessity these days to enable the places to run economically imo
