Some smart dogs running, pointers to Mothering Sunday's Gala meeting and lots of interesting betting opportunities to my way of thinking.

Heat 1. Welton Arthur is always short prices in his races. He likes company but very useful on going days. Coz he's returning to the track though, the value may rest with promising Deltic Tornado. Hope they both qualify to help make it the best possible final, coz plan is to be there.

Heat 2. Dacent Joker is classy, no doubt about that, but his stamina may prove an issue, making his 660m six-bend debut. Nevertheless, could be worth the risk to hold on from Mays Millhouse.

Heat 3. Very hot-looking affair to me. Everyone knows Blonde Reagan but disappointing for my money in the Golden Jacket, where he dropped away tamely. Lode Vanquish "took off" in the Jacket consolation and on that form, a major player, although disapppointing over c/d last time. Farloe Kyle is talented and would make his mark, granted a run. Stepaside Glenis has been a win-machine but faces the acid test. All in all Blonde Reagan should win if at his best and would be my antepost hope but unlikely to be a book. Sure Ryan would have given me a price but not going tonight, going to watch in bookies. Potentially an excellent final in store.

Earlier, Candy Wheel can confirm recent promise with extra yardage likely to suit, as came from way off the pace to collar the trail-blazing Demesne Loopy over 480m recently. Droopys Fern, another promising puppy ought to make  a race of it though. Azzuri Olly and Stepaside Haribo make an early impact but may struggle business end.

Impact Fantastic faces an easier task than of late and should get the better of Bowtime Fella and Crimpos Rocky.

The penultimate BAGS race looks hard but maybe Change of Shift does okay.

I like Kowloon Conner (NAP) a lot and although unraced since New Year's Eve, fancied to take control with Stepaside Bigjak likely to cut across main danger Droopys Pride early.

Good luck!

Maybe just a fractionally disappointing final with the likes of Blonde Reagan, Lode Vanquish and Dacent Joker falling by the wayside.

Enigmatic Welton Arthur just did enough in heat 1 and another winning run cant be ruled out in the decider but would be surprised if the two qualifiers from heat 2, race was a boil-over, trouble the judge. Heat 3 saw Lode Vanquish and Blonde Reagan dropping away, leaving it to game Stepaside Glenis to catch gritty Farloe Kyle. Hope Kyle wins the final now.

Cracking 480m race, great buckle between two dogs i follow. Knew Stepaside Bigjak was a fast starter but he was flawless, with Kowloon Conner never quite getting on terms and crowded a fair bit of the way, during a prolonged challenge. So, NAP got beat but ran gamely and lost nothing in defeat. In the end, Bigjak was a very backable price at 7/1

Snow forecast and track -230sec slow last night. Was favouring outside with trap 1 last on 5 occasions and 2nd to last 3 times.

Welton Arthur non runner in the final, so winner now destined to be Farloe Kyle or Stepaside Glenis.

Fancy Stepaside Bigjak, even more effective over this shorter trip, but prohibitive odds.

Candy Wheel likely to attract support but watch for Monmore Puppy Derby casualty Glenpadden Post, too.

Phanters Capri another interesting one.

Kowloon Conner may not be ideally suited to 500m on very slow going but may have enough in reserve to hold on.

Farloe Barracuda, being aimed at the Golden Sprint, very short to extend his winning tally. Trick could be deciding which Demesne of Elaine Parker's for the forecast, Loopy or Tornado.

Bit View Royal worth waiting for in the lucky last. 3rd to Skywalker Louie and Boher Paddy in the Steel City and some fast times on his card, if not recently. Main danger Farley Hondo's bad draw swings it.

Good luck!

Time and time again Stepaside Glenis does the business. Just pipped Farloe Kyle again, they could be a pair of kidders.

Thought i'd done the hard bit selecting Demesne Tornado over Demesne Loopy for the forecast but didnt plan on 8/1 Tornado shading 1/4 fav Farloe Barracuda by a whisker, Tote forecast was paying 5/1.

Same again when Stepaside Bigjak failed by a nostril to beat Glanmire Jet, who came from out of the clouds. Bigjak wasnt helped by Fridays Dynamo, bang there throughout.

Thought Kowloon Conner and Glenpadden Post disappointing but Phanters Capri and Bit View Royal won.

Dont think bookies helped. Seemed to remember working out about 155% over-round on one race

Barrie Draper's dogs are running below par at the moment.

Maybe slightly Wales. Think Farloe Barracuda and Farloe Kyle performed well, although the former only 24.40 odd 400m Romford in trial as a taster for Golden Sprint. Are you saying that coz Kowloon Conner and Glenpadden Post not great? Heard Eden Star will be trialling soon
