RACING Post Greyhound TV is to add Wednesdays and Sundays to its Thursday/Friday/Saturday schedule for a three-month trial period beginning on Easter Sunday, March 31.
Coventry has been signed up to provide standalone Sunday coverage and will also feature on Wednesdays alongside Romford, which already figures on the channel with a weekly open-race fixture on Fridays. The Sunday evening broadcast is expected to start at 6.15, with the first Coventry race 15 minutes later. RPGTV producer Clive Lawrence is already making plans for the expanded schedule, including a return to the screens for a familiar face from Sky Sports. Lawrence said: “I’m excited about the trial expansion period as we’re welcoming another track into our fold and I’ll also have the challenge of producing a Sunday programme with just one meeting. “I’ve secured more funding to help with the additional production requirements and the viewer will be able to enjoy more reporters trackside and pre-recorded kennel visits. Julie Collier will join the team to feature in most of the kennel visits and to present from the sofa.” |

If Albert has Sky, he'd be on the couch every week.

ps, this is excellent news. I firmly believe that with the right marketing this would be great for the sport.
Yes yes I get the low attendance thing, but this gets the track basic nationwide coverage as it would others. How many of us knew of the likes of Black Jedamac and the like before RPGTV? Must surely get building up to getting a small slot in the papers, get a multi-track jackpot going etc? Even Sky Sports have bought a nag to make it more interesting for shareholders and more coverage can only be good. |

good old doris she never gets it wrong.plus she chargers me 50pound for her card at romford
|
|
By:
great news of course but 1 meeting on a sunday is disappointing
surprised they haven't just added wednesdays, see how that goes, then expand to sundays if 4 days are popular + can get another track on sundays |
|
By:
yeah allright dr , we bought it , even though we now know dr really stands for doris !

Could someone please tell me why there's proposed RPGTV coverage of Coventry Wednesday and Sunday, when we already got pictures anyway?
|
|
By:
The more regular coverage you can get on mainstream tv (and any Sky is mainstream now) is excellent. Consistency is needed and is very welcome.
This is absolutely the way forward. Sky cannot be blamed for the lack of atmos at Wimbledon last Tuesday and as such, this is the way to go imo Having said that, tracks seem to be working hard to improve attendances but in current times, and ctraffic I should add, it isnt always the most attractive Wednesday night out. |

Pictures are no use when you can't have a bet on here. |
|
By:
Point taken Sparrow, but does that mean Coventry should stop brodcasting themselves, once RPGTV jump onboard?
|
|
By:
Not sure what Harry's plan is. Weren't the pictures to boost the Tote pool? Will RPGTV not be revnue lost for him?
