Booked Six and Chantilly Lace were the earliest winners I can remember. I think it was run at the same track every year for a while, then, different tracks got a turn. cheers.

We bred a bitch called Pamelas Runaway who the handicapper wouldnt let on the card because she was waiting.Ended up giving her away to a flapper and she ended up with her name changed to Elbony Rose.Went on to win numerous big races and should have won the TV Trophy but was waiting all the way round the track.I would have only been about 9 or 10 at the time and can remember as far back as my brain goes running away to the top of the field with a towel and shouting like a crazy person waving the towel on the pups all hurtling towards me at a rate of knots after they had been slipped and closing my eyes and praying they missed me when i threw the towel away.Later became a gallop and a lure but tbh those were the good old days.

Spectre has to be one of the best winners, prior to winning in 1968 he had finished 2nd in the 1967 Derby to his litter brother Tric Trac.
Also in that litter was the leger winner Forward King. |

Just checked and I got it wrong, as Spectre won it in 1967 at Hove. Shady Begonia won it in 1968 at Romford.
You can check all the winners at thedogs.co.uk website. |

Won TV Trophy in 1970 880 yards, White City, Manchester 51.90. "Greyhound Magazine", March 1980, page 31 for a minuet there i really thought i was going senile ![]() but when you where there and bet the dog you tend to remember these things, and what makes it even more easy to remember was borrowing a fiver of me mum to bet it, and telling her to watch it win on TV and not to expect me home till very late. |

I got that information from thedogs website, starr. According to their records it was the 1969 final that was run at White City and won by Cash for Dan.
I don't doubt your memory at all though, as I know how these things stick in your memory. I can remember dozens of ordinary graders at Clapton in the 60s as if it was yesterday! Strangely I can't recall that final in 1970 at all. |
