The final will be run on Tuesday March 19th as a double-header on Sky TV with the Juvenile Invitation race, both prizes £5k.

Hills bet on the Springbok:

9/4 Droopys Lorenzo
11/4 Lenson Johnny
7/1 Mad Mash Snowy
10/1 Fire Food Chilli
12/1 Green Amigo
14/1 bar

Lorenzo looks a great prospect but very short. Waiting for a better price elsewhere.

Looking further down the list, a couple that could be worth a nibble at this stage are 20/1 Daddy Knowsbest and 33/1 Aero Bellagio. The former once ran Ballymac Eske to a length and the latter reached the semis of the Henlow Puppy Derby, then thought good enough to run in the Derby itself.

Same remark applies to both, if fit, taking to jumping and getting on with it, could be a decent price

Surprised to see Daddy Knowsbest still at 20/1 and gone in again at twice the original play. Fell out on Saturday but zoomed past them all like they were statues rounding the first bend. Clear heading to the 3rd turn and jumping well until hare stopped. If he starts coming away, could even give Lorenzo a race, imo

Daddy 14/1 now

Droopys Lorenzo versus Lenson Johnny Wimbledon Saturday. Mash Mad Snowy and Daddy Knowsbest in two further seperate trial stakes.

This time of year gets me to thinking about dogs who have blotted their copybook and would have, perhaps, made live Springbok candidates. Springing to made are ex-Lister's high class trio, Boher Legend, Romeo Spartan and Taylors Cruise

Problem is Woody if they arnt good jumpers they get beat by A2 dogs that are....very fast open dogs that jump well are very hard to find...
Report woodmanchester February 21, 2013 5:31 PM GMT
Yes Valueman, but the speed of top class dogs can sometimes stand them in good stead over jumps, like Toomaline Jack

parachute and a pair of glasses for daddy imo

Looking at last nights results, Droopys Lorenzo not got as much in hand as market suggests?
Report bannahan February 24, 2013 1:08 PM GMT
I thought Droopys Lorenzo was miles clear but didnt play at the prices offered.

As you say he doesn't seem to be miles clear as i originally thought so at the minute glad i didn't plough into the 9/4

Daddy Knowsbest runs in another trial stakes at Wimbo tonight. He deffo got pace if a bit scatty. Would win a good wedge for me antepost and hoping he advertises his Springbok claims better than last Saturday

Lorenzo is trialling at Coventry tonight

Daddy moderately away and not jumping well before taking off far too early third hurdle and dropped miles behind. Ended up tailed off with the T4 dog but both finished the course. Obviously, not looking good.

Hope Lorenzo went well Griff

Jumped well apart from the 1st it's close to the traps came back with 30.26 onto the Springbok

Oops, wrong race. Think Wimbledon changed the racetimes? Just seen Daddy 2nd to Meteor, so still some hope
Report bannahan March 3, 2013 8:12 AM GMT
I was there last night.

DKB lead showing decent early, WM tracked round a couple of lengths back, WM jumped far better than DKB and picked him up just before the last hurdle, again out jumping DKB and winning by 1.5- 2lengths I think.

DKB will need to improve plenty to be a factor in the Springbok now imo

Oh, and just incase it is entered DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES back Tintreach Wolf.....i have never seen a luckier winner or poorer dog in my days of watching Greyhound racing....

Still hopeful my two outsiders Daddy Knowsbest and Aero Bellagio givus a run, but Droopys Lorenzo the one they all gotta beat. Remember starting a thread about him before his hurdling debut and just look at what he's done since. 13/8 best now but would really have needed a fair bit better to lump on, for me.

Been impressed with Rockview Royal, who ran Lorenzo close recently but still dont think there's as big a difference between 8/11 that and 7/2 Green Amigo in the first round tonight.

Dont think i'd want to be lumping on at 2/9 a novice hurdler with the credentials of Druids Abouttime either. Much rather 14/1 each-way more experienced Holywell Dream at 1/4 odds 1,2 in this five-dogger.

Good luck!

Green Amigo is a raver but has plenty of pace, I've had a little play
Report bannahan March 9, 2013 5:04 PM GMT
Valueman.....i remember sending you a link on here about him a while ago, the link was via Greyhound Data i think, do you remember it? Was when Oli was still running...I remember saying how much pace he had and you did quite rightly point out that he was a bit of a loon!

what a competion Laugh
Report eyeball March 9, 2013 6:56 PM GMT
Don't really bet hurdles , let alone novice hurdles but I couldn't see a lot of difference in running between the jolly and Rockview Royal and would rather bet 8/1 each way 1/4 first four when the quality of most is atrocious .

8.30 Partial result declared. A dog fell early. Fire Food Chilli clear when falling back straight. Other dogs stopped apart from T6, who kinda kept going and seemingly the only dog through, coz as far as my understanding of the rules is concerned, the others didnt complete the course in a reasonable time?

14/1 ew Holywell Dream was looking good until a bad mistake when second.

Pleased Daddy Knowsbest got through
