14/02/2013 There are some very positive vibes emanating from Tralee in advance of the GMHD Juvenile Classic which is due to commence on Friday of next week.
Declan Dowling reported yesterday that there are currently more than 48 names in the book, heading for 60 with top trainers Pat Buckley, Owen McKenna, Rachel Wheeler, Peter Cronin, Matt O’Donnell, John Linehan and Liam Dowling all well represented.
Said Declan, “if the rumours emanating from the unrecorded trials are any indication then we can expect some fireworks on Friday 22nd. The draw will be made on Tuesday next at 2 pm.
We hear that event sponsor Denis Murphy will be making a bold effort to land the GMHD Juvenile Classic prize of €15,000.
Among his runners is the bitch Dromore Maeve, a daughter of Denis mum’s brood bitch Graigues Toss which was a finalist in the Juvenile Classic five years ago but couldn’t contest the final. This young bitch qualified in 28.90 last Friday and Murphy and colleagues are hoping to go a few rounds at least.
Murphy also hopes to have another runner Riptide Movement which he jointly owns with Willie Butler and Brian O’Sullivan.
