Bred and owned by Her Majesty, i've had a small interest 15/2 Open Hearted each-way (2 places). Ex-French Fago has competed in some good races at Auteuil and may start a strong favourite but hopeful Open Hearted, even if not winning, can keep Colour Squadron out of he frame.

Open Hearted has always looked a fine chaser in the making and could make a winning debut over the larger obstacles. He hasnt raced since quietly fancied for a race at the Cheltenham Festival but finished down the field there. Think that running was wrong as he had previous shown plenty of promise with a few victories.

If youre considering a play now, recommend you take 11/2 with 365, best odds guaranteed.

Good luck!

I know a lot of dog men on here partial to a horsey bet, that's all.

Open Hearted had every chance of a place until blundering. Right about beating Colour Squadron but Ohio Gold ran far better than expected. Still a shade disappointing

Here is a horse tip for ya Woody, take the 16s Cotton Mill for the Betfair Hurdle on Feb 9th and just pray the ground comes up with some good in the description.

The horse is made for a fast run 2m

Last years Neptune, the only horse putting it up to Simonsig in my opinion (wouldn't have won though) and the drop back in trip off a strong pace will suit him. Amazed you don't know who he is Confused

the ferguson horse that ran out

as you say PF, needs goodish ground and very unlikely to get it 2nd week in feb the way this winter has gone
Report woodmanchester January 19, 2013 10:20 AM GMT
Dont know much about horses PF. Mainly just have a handful i follow. Had my couple of quid each-way at the 16/1 though, thanks Happy. Think i saw Pearl Swan in the race. Would have normally gone for that, probably nearer the time, but bowing to your better judgement Happy

PF’s tip endorsed by Tom Segal in his Pricewise column in The Post, also tipped Punjabi 40-1.
Report safari guide January 20, 2013 12:00 PM GMT
No offence to PF but there is an army of people waiting to back this horse. It was entered in four races around Christmas time but the ground was always wrong. The pricewise  tip will now ensure the odds are restricted when the ground does come right and I wish Tom Segal would find something else to write about.

Spot on.

Been waiting to back him all season in one of these big handicaps only for the ground to be wrong for him every time. Seriously think he is chucked in off his current mark but the ground has to come right. I didn't really want to play him this early ante post to be totally honest as he is so ground dependent but when i heard PW was doing the race and i heard he was going to put him up i took the 16s. It's a big risk with the way the weather is and has been but if there was any 'good' in the going description (which is doubtful) he'd be a single figure price and clear 2nd fav in my opinion.

GL PF, I hope it runs and wins for ya but that hurdle course at newbury was very hard work at the last meeting
Report woodmanchester January 21, 2013 7:31 AM GMT
Sounds like it's worth the risk at 16/1. Snow free/dry spell and drying winds would do the trick

If the ground doesn't come right i hope they scratch him (no problem doing my dough), no point on running on unsuitable ground and leaving the rest of his season behind. Off his current mark i'd fancy him to run huge races in either the Coral Cup or County Hurdle at the festival. Obviously it would be better to run at Newbury (and win) and then have a crack at the Champion Hurdle.
Report irishone January 21, 2013 1:46 PM GMT
well beaten at aintree over a distance too far, by a Hobbs "novice" superstar from the year before and one of alan kings. I was there at Cheltenham when a very tired  horse ducked out about three out at cheltenham , a long way from home. The coral cup is 2m 5f , the county is 2m 1f,  Both Hobbs & King are ahead of Ferguson the trainer, and they have a line on the horse. Why take it over three miles if its a 2 miler ? Doesn't add up at all. I'm OUT !

That surprises me PF. Do you consider him good enough to be possible Champion Hurdle material?
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y January 22, 2013 9:09 AM GMT
Cotton Mill is pricewise for the Champion Hurdle today, have a feeling he was when he was getting slashed across the board last night. While i think he would have an outisde chance he would want a fast pace in my opinion and whether we will get that this year i don't know as there is no Overturn. I persume his reasoning for putting him up would be that if he does win the Betfair (which he put him up for) he is likely to contract in price for the Champion.

I didn't thuink he looked very tired when he got rid of Denis at Cheltenham to me, he looked to be still going well enough but there was still a long way to go, he was the only one putting it up to Simonsig at that stage (wouldn't have beat him though). As for stepping him up to 3m at Aintree, Hardy Eustace beat Pizarro in the same race Cotton Mill ran in at the festival them went on to finish 70odd lengths behind Iris's Gist at Aintree over 3m. He went on to win the next 2 Champion Hurdles.
Report wondersobright January 22, 2013 9:58 AM GMT
I'd be more interested in him at cheltenham than I would be at newbury, segal has latched on to an angle that has been profitable in the past and this is definately a spring ground horse

would'nt it be nice if a bookmaker was actually making an opinion that the ground will not come and taking a stand to get it beat against the pricewise advice..............my experience with vc....before the walthamstow shame.......were they fell in with the other accountants employed by the main bookmakers and were risk adverse.............all their adverts are for slots or football but just maybe victor has remembered what he should be doing.......

It's a pity they couldn't have ran him in one of the big handicaps he was entered for earlier in the year as he would not have ran into a My Tent Or Yours in any of those
