Looking forward to watching some fine performers in action.

7.16. Lister unveils Golden Wonder in this puppy race. Smart trial form, 365 quote him as only 33/1 for the Derby and could be anything.

7.32 Fridays Dynamo did me a good turn when grinding it out last time. Wont be easy over this shorter trip but think i'll stick with him.

7.48 Head Iton Hayesy (NAP). Really like this dog and back to form now after a few lack-lustre runs when first returning to the fray. He, too, did me a very good turn last time and gets banker status to assert latter stages.

8.04 Tough race to call but Newmarket Flyway could be to the fore.

8.19 Crackerjack of a race. Hather George and Sawpit Sensation renew old rivalry. George beat Sawpit in the semis of the Eclipse over c/d but Sawpit won the final when beating Taylors Sky in record time. Sawpit makes his comeback and George is in irresistible form, going for six wins on the bounce so, of the pair, George may have the advantage this time. However, Sawpit's connections must be hopeful of a very good year and may even consider a crack at the English Derby, the way he won the Eclipse. Failing that, he looks sure to go for another tilt at Shelbourne Park, where he performed with much credit last year. Having said all that, i rate this Cashen Cocoa. Think he could be underestimated here.

Two bets: Head Iton Hayesy and Cashen Cocoa.

If you feel the need to get something  off your chest, cough it up now. Not after the races, please.

Thank you and good luck!

woody why would you nap a dog that obviously has suffered training problems......he won last april but never ran again until july.....having 4 trials inbetween......where he came last...he then ran in november over this course and distance where he came 5th yet still ran in the eclispe 4 days later where he came last.....further to another sprint trial in december he managed to stay sound for three races leading up to christmas at sheffield winning the final one by a neck on desperate going.......the dog may have been top class and the trainer and connections are obviously doing the very best they can to bring the dog back from whatever injury he has suffered.......i wish them and the dog all the best but to nap him is folly for both you and the sporting life.com.......

cashen cocoa will probably find this race too hard to win but may qualify if it is first three...............

Winja or should i say Hanibal, that Sheffield run close to Hayesy's best, imo. Kowloon Conner is very smart, dont stop in front and reckon Hayesy will improve again. Intending to have a decent go by my standards anyway. Mentioned before, last good bet Eden Star, not withstanding having a couple of stabs at the Harry Holmes Memorial.

Obviously, Cocoa has something to prove overall against George and Sawpit but has fine potential and suspect the price will be right. Sure he wont be caught if leading at any stage, with Sawpit unlikely to be 100%. His best 500m form Sheffield is just as good as George's too, but thanks for your input prior to the races Happy

Did my dough but enjoyed some excellent racing, with pointers for the future.

Great comeback from Sawpit. Cocoa, going well, came to challenge at 3rd bend, but nowhere to go. Squeezed out and lost vital ground. May have made a race of it otherwise.

Hayesy came there to win off the final bend but surprisingly, no extra run-in. Saleen kept going and won a length.

Golden Wonder as close a railer as i've seen. At this stage, badly needs red. Fast but tired run-in. Nevertheless, promising debut and Lister will be hoping he's got another Zafonic on his hands

hayesy has ran well tonight clocking a faster time in 2nd place than the winners of the other two heats.......the trainer put a further sheffield trial into him before his race because he probably knew the dog was not fully fit and took the risk of quick runs for a dog that may be fragile..........it is all a balance but because of those issues he could not be nap material tonight........plenty of people were backing him though and that is the curse of fast dogs who go wrong.......

Cocoa ran ok in third and was unlucky not to qualify......

bad luck with dynamo......thought he had won....

Hayesy usually does his best work late on and must be a fraction short of peak. Either that or Slick Saleen is very strong. Must confess, i was counting my winnings when they were level turning for home. The words chickens your dont count come to mind.

Think Golden Wonder was returned 4/6. Was it ever evens on the exchanges?
Report Winja January 14, 2013 9:20 PM GMT
yes......slightly over.......could have got plenty of 4/5.....

that slick saleen was the fastest dog i thought at the time in the monners puppy derby,as with all alsopp dogs though it got injured and will no doubt suffer a career of one great run followed up by a bucket of sh1te,rinse and repeat for the entire kennel.
