Swindon is a terrible place to go, its small crowded the form is so hard to read. Its hard to choose a dog to lead let alone win, there all so graded in close that's why there always on the bags. Bookies don't take a bet. The best Trainer there is basically because of one owner. The worst thing is its the coldest place in the world as its so wide open. Its just not a great feeling going with no where to sit and the traps are on a slight incline

I hasten to disagree ada. I went there in November 2011, sold three dogs and came back with a few bob down the M4. Caught the ferry from Pembroke at 2 a.m. Knowing I was passing I came on here and asked the local judges for some clues. I cant remember if it was Kerching or Patrick Starr but they gave me two winners trained by Matt Dartnell, I had a nifty on both of them and was paid out with a smile. I asked a bookie (think it was Clive ?) if he would take a monkey ans his response was !wny not sir ?. I thought the track was very fair to the dogs and the bars/stands satisfactory. You are right it is a bit out of town, wild and windy .... bet you haven't been to galway though have you ?

I have to disagree with ada as well Swindon is a great test for a greyhound and you dont get the trouble at 1st bend like you do at other tracks Bags is tough to pick a winner but on Friday/Saturday night they is money to be made with the new improving dogs before the grader gets a grip, they have a new bookie they called Calne Racing and they take a nice bet and pay with a smile, the comment the best trainer there is bacically because of one owner is way off the mark as i would have thought Dartnall Hutton and Stringer could come in to that catogery and with oldtimer Portor Atkins and Jones and new trainers Peterson, Mitchell and Rowe who have some nice dogs, tell me what track that isint cold this time of year.

I'd agree with both lads above (obviously).

Its a fantastic track with no hiding places, you need a proper dog to win  a race there, not just the ability to trap or go fast for 60m and my god give me swindons real traps every day of the week over those tin pieces of sh1t still at most tracks.

The racing manager is very hard to beat and good at his job,the trainers mentioned above are all up and coming lads with great attitudes,Kevin Hutton finished 7th in the numerical open race winners table last year.

Will agree its bloody cold though! Saying that i go to cov quite regular and you dont see many wandering round in shorts there either!

Only been once with On Stage Lizzy for the Easter Bunny competition.

Snack bar food was poor.

Kennels were excellent. All on ground level where you can actually go in and get your dog out rather than having a battle if you have a shy one (Which I did) that doesnt want to come out.

Very well run paddock and efficient.

Track was in brilliant condition which I was told is the norm.

We were having £800 on out bitch and we did ask who was the bigger bookmaker. We asked him for a 2000/500 and was laid a 800/200 but did get the rest on with the others at no less than 7/2.

Bitch won very nicely and had a KFC on the way back to Hull.
