With nightmares of Cheltenham still haunting me and Grands Crus rubbing salt into the wound last Saturday, can Long Run atone?

Current, prevailing heavy going usually means throw the formbook out the window but he should win, or it could be another disappointment.

In the long distance hurdles, had little goes on big outsiders Knights Pass and Son of Flicka

Best best really is to put money on few finishers!

Do you recommend backing Long Run or laying him then?

He's been beaten 1st time up in the last two seasons, Henderson 6-28 in the last 14 days, miles clear on official ratings. A race to swerve perhaps. I'd rather be a layer than a player if forced to choose.

You'd expect the market to be pretty accurate wrt his chances

I think he is overpriced, gave reasons on the Irish forum so won't go over them again

Okay, i'll stop joking. Hope he wins anyway. Still a contender for next year's Gold Cup, hopefully

Not many horses come back & win another gold cup. I'd be surprised if he did. Best to look for an up & coming horse.

Think i've got Cyclone in my ten to follow.

Stow, it might be hard to come back to win a Gold Cup but Long Run still relatively young and just think he had a slightly off season last

Same story as last year, they are facking clueless with Long Run in my opinion. He is not a speed horse, he is a stayer and holding him up is not going to work. The race went exactly the same as last years

He doesn't have a turn of pace stow, look at the races he has won even. In the Gold Cup he won he looked beat turning in with Denamn and Kauto battling it out and just outstyed them up the hill. In the Betfair last eyar it went the exact same as today with Ruby dictating the pace that suited him and winding it up. In the King George he just stayed on as well.

They need to ride the horse more aggressivly, he is an out and out stayer

Didnt jump too fluently either, but seldom does. Still a very good horse but looked exceptional when he won his Gold Cup

he makes too many mistakes, maybe they should try a new jockey,I doubt that will happen though.
