Think some people might be being a bit harsh on Buddy. A Catagory One marathon winner bowling along in front over a stiff six bends was always going to be hard to catch and pass. Thought Buddy kept trying but chopped. Been watching Buddy a very long time and in the past, always thought clumsy when behind. He had started winning races prior to the Leger but think he might just have found one too good on the night, QED?

respect what you have to say most of the times woodie but come on watch the race i agree he got chopped when challenging at the 3rd bend but was well inside at the 5th and simply turned its head and refused to go by

I will have to watch again. Only saw it as it happened and the above was just my first impression

Just beat by a very brave strong staying dog whose absolute mustard at staying there when he leads - thought buddy ran an absolute blinder and would have won if any other dog had led. A cracking run, where a strong dog done very well to shut the door in his face and kybosh his chance of winning. For my money if you ran the race ten times he'd probably have won it five times - and I'm pretty biased having backed Reagan.

i couldnt really tell from the track, i would say is trying to go past on the inner around the 5th bend /3rd bend over 480 is nearly impossible because of the rail, you see it all the time on the graded stuff.
Report panda November 23, 2012 12:09 PM GMT
ososhot do you really think he would of went past 3or6 if they had led because imo he wouldnt of beat either if they had led

Yep that's what I just said wasn't it!! I think he was trained to peak in the final and would have been highly likely to have picked anything else up bar Reagan. In my opinion 41.83 with a check and a broadside was quick enough for him to beat anything bar Reagan with a blast and on the bunny.

I bet ballyard small e/w and I thought he'd won when he cracked out, he was upsides on inside around final bend and I'm afraid the winner wanted it more Sad

I dont think he turned his head. It looked like it in the race but not on the slow-mo.

I do think he could have won, but BR aint a mug and he did take the bends much better than BB. Also, he isnt proven over much further and had spent a lot of energy from trap-rise to 680. nevertheless, it did look slightly iffy

Time form Squiggle!!!  Bottled going on, much more middle pace than Regan but
did not want to hit the front... Blinkers required for its next run IMO!!!
Report Addy_D November 24, 2012 1:35 AM GMT
ive watched the race a few times and still cant make my mind up if the dog did or didnt want to go past. some angles say its iffy, but i just know what that 5th bend is like at wimbledon, you just cant go past on the inner, and im always going to give a dog the benfit of doubt if thats where its supposed indiscretion occurred. think xavier near the line is a lot more clear cut lol
Report irishone November 24, 2012 8:57 AM GMT
There was a dog last night actually turned around to go the other way just 20 yards past the winning line
Sometimes when the dog in front raises its tail the dogs behind will not go past
A dog's pack instinct makes it always pay close attention to everybody and everything around it
Growling dogs are giving notice that their ready to attack if the others don't back off
seriously lads, unless there were  microphones and slow mo cameras at that bend you have no chance of ever knowing what went on in the dogs head .
Report terryvenerbles November 24, 2012 11:31 AM GMT
dog defo worth another chance but could of won that race whenever he wanted finished second in all four rounds and imo never came off the bridle!!
