DOLORES MAY MOVE HER BASE TO AUSTRALIA
15/11/2012
Dolores Ruth has sprung a few surprises in her time but she has produced a real bombshell by revealing that she may well move her base to Australia.

She has long planned to take a month-long holiday in Australia in January – though she was originally going in December until hearing of the Night of Stars! But she revealed yesterday that there is a little more to her holiday “down under” than originally appeared to be the case!

Speaking frankly as ever, Dolores said: “I am leaving for Australia in the first week of January for at least a month but before that I will be sending out the Puppy Derby winner Razldazl Luke and Derby quarter finalist Razldazl Apollo to be trained by Brett McDonald.

“Basically, what I am doing is planning my future. The game is very hard here at the moment and across the water and the future appears to be Australia with the great prizemoney that is available. I have been thinking of this for some time and I just want to go out there first and see the set-up for myself and decide whether Australia is the place to be”.

She is considering the possibility of a Coolmore type Dual Hemisphere scheme with her top dogs contesting the Spring Festival events in Australia and then returning to Ireland to have a crack at the Derby. “I honestly think it could be feasible. Whatever, I am going to spend a month over there and I might even stretch it”.

In line with her move she is sending her useful stayer Razldazl Dmagio to a British trainer as “there are no staying races for him here. We have to get him back to top form following his injury but I have a trainer picked out for him”.

Leading the Ruth team in Ireland on her return will be Milldean Panther and Milldean Tally while she hopes to give Kingo another crack at the Cesarewitch and a third successive Betfair 600.

But, otherwise she doesn’t have many younger dogs coming through at the moment and this allows her the time to launch her exploratory trip to Australia. She doesn’t have any dogs for the big McManus event at Limerick or the Produce Stakes at Clonmel.

Summing up her feelings Dolores, who has enjoyed the most unbelievably successful two years on the track front with the flying Razldazls, says: “It is the time to make a decision on my own future and I have to put my career and my owners’ interests first. Remember, I am not like some trainers who can have 100 dogs. I have only room for ten or twelve dogs in training at a time and it is difficult to have good ones all the time”.

As i recently said on another post, i thought about working in Australia a long, long time ago. PF, you said it was clear to stick with, alledgedly, the dogs and set-up i know here, although i thought it couldnt be that disimlar, a view Dolores seems to have taken.

Just imagine, new life, new challenge, new beginning. Totally different way of life. Already got friends of the family living over there but would miss my immediate family and friends here.

Imagine driving along the endless coast line, instead of living in a ooncrete jungle.

PS Think breeding with more emphasis on stamina down there, so is Bugatti going cheap please? Laugh
