Harry Findlay & Martin White are two other speakers at tonight's meeting.

GOBATA
"Tonight’s  GOBATA meeting of owners at Waltham Abbey will hear for another call for a vote  of no confidence in GBGB Practitioner Director John  Haynes. It will follow the  unanimous vote for the same made by trainers at their AGM at Coventry back in  August, the difference this time being that the no confidence vote will be  called for by an owner. Howard Berlin of  Ilford says his main reason for calling the vote is based on the premise that  the “Practitioner Director at the GBGB should be the subject of a democratic  ballot.” He continues: “The  only democractic ballot we have had showed **** had a large majority  when it came to the election of chairman of the Greyhound Trainers’ Association. “It is my  suggestion that Mr Haynes stands down and that we have a new ballot of all  registered owners, breeders and trainers to decide who represents the people who  provide the product for greyhound racing to function. “After all,  without owners, breeders and trainers there would be no industry, Mr Haynes and  Mr Holloway can then stand for election, or indeed anyone who is a current  owner, trainer or breeder.
“The GBGB must, as  an organisation, open up to the many people on the outside who have the vision,  the drive and who have the entrepreneurial skills to move our great sport  forward."

We empathise with  Mr Berlin’s thoughts and wish him well but democracy in greyhound racing? We  hold out faint hope of that bearing in mind
that the GBGB will not even allow  representatives from the Greyhound Trainers' Association onto their various  committees."
