North Bound did 28.30 in a trial after him, not looking good for the Panther.

It was a perfectly respectable trial considering the time he's been off, i expected him to go a bit quicker but i would not be writing him off on the back of it. I thought he lost his footing a bit around the first which would have cost him time.

PANTHER RETURNS BUT VISITS VET
28/10/2012 There was a rush to the steps at Shelbourne on Saturday when it was announced that Milldean Panther was going to traps for the first trial of the session. After the trial there was shaking and scratching of heads as the fans digested the run in which the brilliant 28.00 record holder had clocked 28.82. He appeared to fly from traps and really motored to the bend but then appeared to “lose” his hind legs on the corner. He was almost on the hare rail running down the far side and was a bit untidy on the final two bends. Dolores Ruth agreed that things hadn’t gone quite according to plan and she said: “He’s booked in for a full check by the vet on Tuesday but he ran very wide along the back after missing a stride on the first bend. We’ll have to wait and see”. It was anticipated that the Panther would need the run pretty badly but the effort was put in perspective by the 28.30 trial run from Derby Plate winner North Bound a few trials later. |
