I see it's 550yds, 503m. Our St Legers are staying races. At first glance, i'd shortlist Skywalker Puma, Sparta Maestro. Dont think really far enough for Kingo and Tibetan Skies. Think i'd respect Laughil Billy, Refuge of Sinner though, all that's straight off the top of the head, of course

At the prices, my three against the field are Milldean Tally (12/1), Shelbourne Geoff (25/1) & Varra Captain (50/1). Id be keen to take on Puma around Limerick, theres no way that he'll get the breaks in running that he got thru the Irish Derby.

well done woody youve picked the 1st 2nd 4th and 8th favourite must of took some picking that

![]() Where did you expect the Irish Derby winner who has recently clocked 28.00 in a trial to be in the betting. And then the dog who was favourite at one stage for the Derby that recently broke a track record that stood for years and even stars like College Causeway could not break. |

Some of the prices are absolutely amazing if you ask me

Well, ask a football pundit who wins the Premiership. Are they likely to say United/City or QPR/Wigan? I know i get no marks for stating the obvious but wouldn't be looking to back both the top 2 in any case. Looking like Skywalker Puma and Laughil Billy for me at this stage.
Good luck! |

Un fkin real, all they would take is €30 quid on Sparta Maestro at 6s then cut him

At the prices i like:
Sparta Maestro who i think this track should suit him. Shelbourne Geoff who finished 3rd in this last year and has good form around here, he's fresh as he had to miss the Derby and if fully over his problems looks too big a price. |
|
By:
They cut him to 5s but don't want to lay 5s now. Why not just put him in 4/6, would they lay him at that??
Shouldn't have stayed up for the NFL last night and went to the shops this morning ![]() |

Backed Shaneboy Alley today at 80/1. Vastly improving dog and really put it up to Puma on Saturday might. Might be more to come and hasn't got a bad draw in the second round. Still 66's available

Puma turned 2nd to him and only beat him 2 1/2L which is some effort, yes Puma was held up a bit down the back as Alley moved wide into his ground but it was still a good effort. He is 1 of only 5 (w)s left and unlike the others looks to have the necessary early to be able to turn in front. He is in a tough enough 2nd round heat but he is lightly raced and looked a lot better than those odds suggest in round 1. |

Tempted by 25/1 each-way Muralli Junior. True, Tibetan Skies closed him down but thought he was keeping going close home. Won 3/4 length and Skies only 16/1

Paid a visit to Limerick track on Sat night (first time there in over a year)-only 5/6 bookies there for the 1st round of a classic. Absolute joke, with the boys taking out the usual margins. Crowd wasn't great either.
There is something not quite right about the place, even with all the cash spent (and overspent) on it. 1st floor of stand is poorly designed, in most spots, you cant see the 1st & 4th bends - for some reason, they didn't think of this when building it. |

Also stuck something small on Rockchase Bullet @ 33/1, he walked out of 6 last week but showed decent pace up before getting bother. I thought he ran pretty well and he showed he runs Limerick well enough earlier in the year when winning over 600y, with better draws he can go all the way to the final. I'd be slightly worried about his draw this week with pace both sides of him but hopefully he can qualify. Also played Rockchase Bullet small at the price, bit worried about his draw Saturday night. Lost Shelbourne Geoff on Saturday night from my ante post bets, he ran rubbish but had been off a while with problems. Wasn't impressed with Saprta Maestro either at all, thought he ran poor but happy to see them take the (w) off as think he will be better off drawn in down there. |

Heat 1 – KINGO IS CLINICAL Kingo produced a professional display to run out a comfortable winner of the opening heat for Dolores Ruth. The powerful black maintains a strong gallop throughout and he was never going to be collared once entering eth back straight with a clear lead. To his credit Head For Fame closed down the back but had nothing extra from the bottom bends and Kingo led home Head For Fame and On His Toes by four lengths and one length in 29.98. Heat 2 – POLISHED PUMA POUNCES Derby champion Skywalker Puma remains on-course to complete a classic double after emerging an impressive winner of the second heat despite the best efforts of the rapidly progressive Cabra Buck. The latter shot from traps to set a strong pace, but Skywalker Puma was also fast into stride and he turned a close second. The leader increased his lead into the back straight as Skywalker Puma was forced to check wide, although he quickly recovered. By the third turn Skywalker Puma was breathing down the neck of the early leader and he duly shot past to lead before the home turn. Cabra Buck stuck on grimly in second, but Skywalker Puma took the verdict by a length in 29.84. HEAT 3 – TIBETAN TURNS ON POWER So often frustrating in the past, Owen McKenna’s Tibetan Skies really turned it on when winning the third heat in some style. It was a race in which fortunes changed on a few occasions after Lisnakill led up from Tibetan Skies, Refuge Of Sinner and an improving Camas Crash. Camas Crash forced his way through on the inside to hit the front and he led down the far side. Refuge Of Sinner moved second and then Tibetan Skies came with a rush and shot through on the inside to take it up. He then raced on to win by three parts of a length from fast finishing Varra Swallow in 29.84 with Camas Crash two lengths third. HEAT 4 – SKY LOOKED PRICELESS Paul Hennessy had a great first round in the classic and Priceless Sky gave him the perfect start to the second round when an impressive winner of Heat 4 in a very fast 29.59. He didn’t fly from traps but showed good pace to join Leap On Board on the run-up and then shot the bend. He opened up a big gap down the far side and had the race sewn up by halfway. Maintaining his powerful runn to the line he raced home a six length winner from Leap On Board in 29.59 with O Garney Patch another two lengths third. HEAT 5 – COOLARD LEADS MOST Paul Hennessy’s hopes of a quick double were dashed when Money Talks broke slowly from the outside box in Heat 5 and he actually did very well to qualify. It was Declan Byrne’s Coolard Chief that showed the superior early pace to head Ders Always One on the run up and by halfway he had a lead of four lengths. Money Talks began his move now as he went second and closed without ever looking a winner. Coolard stayed on well for a two length margin over Money Talks in 30.10 and it was one and a half lengths to the staying Moss Lane in third. HEAT 6 - MAESTRO BACK IN BEST FORM The much discussed changed seeding didn’t effect Phil Gough’s Sparta Maestro as he turned in a masterly performance to win this heat in 29.77. He stepped out lively from the three box and led up from Ardkill Star with Skip Soda moving third on the bend. Once Sparta led by a few lengths into the far side there was no way he could be caught and he raced on really strongly to beat the big staying Ardkill Star by three and a half lengths in 29.77 while Skip Soda was some three lengths back in third. HEAT 7 – COMEDIAN IS NO JOKE Paul Hennessy may have been foiled of a double in Heat 5 but he made amends in style here as veteran tracker Droopys Comedian (Blackstone Gene/ Droopys Sporty) turned back the clock with a brilliant all the way success in 29.82. The Comedian flew from traps and led up from Varra Rumble with Forest Ralph in third. The latter was baulked on the corner and Cashen Mafuma moved second. He ran on in his inimitable style but Droopys Comedian was home and hosed and cruised to a eight length victory over Cashen Mafuma with Varra Ruimble a length and a half back third. HEAT 8 – DRAGON LIVES UP TO REPUTATION Pat Buckley’s Dragon Shield had looked a real early season talent but a series of little problems prevented him from making it a reality. However, he showed in this final heat that he is very much back on song as he won in 29.88. Dragon Shield comfortably won the run to the bend where there was major trouble in behind. Danmar Benny forced his way through into second and ran his usual ultra game race down the far side. However Dragon Shield wasn’t easing off and he raced home three and a half lengths ahead of Danmar Benny and Out For Gold. Back to Talking Dogs |

SPARTA MAESTRO STILL A LEGER DOUBT
16/11/2012 Sparta Maestro is still a doubtful runner in tomorrow’s second semi-final of the Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger at Limerick and no definite decision will be made until late this evening at the earliest. Phil Gough confirmed yesterday that it is still touch and go with the brilliant black as he said: “He is not fully right just yet but we are having him checked again tomorrow afternoon and will know the results tomorrow night. I just want people to be aware that he is not a certain runner”. It don't look good for us on Sparta Maestro. They seem worried to risk him as he may then aggrivate the injury and miss the final and possibly the night of stars, to me though the Leger is much more prestigous than the night of stars so i'd be running Saturday night but then i'm on ante post so could be accused of pocket talking. |

twitter just up - the Uber-Maestro is withdrawn from tomorrow, real shame

Bad luck for Maestro and his fans. Now he's sidelined, Power make Priceless Sky marginal favourite over Skywalker Puma

That's because Comedian doesn't run either, 2nd semi is a 4 runner race.
