Having got very good prices loads of dogs antepost, only to see them start short favourites for their finals but suffer defeat, Ballymac Eske is next in line.

Tale of woe:

Taylors Sky, Gold Cup
Slick Santiago/Boher Paddy, Steel City
Loughteen Blanco, Sussex Cup
Taylors Sky, Select Stakes
Milldean Panther, Gold Cup
Westmead Maldini, Monmore Festival Stayers
Whittle Murtagh, Gymcrack
Taylors Sky, Derby
Romeo Patrol, Regency
Meadowbank Owl/Farloe Kyle etc, 3 Steps
Mill Bling Bling, Scottish Derby
Bubbly Phoenix, Monmore Puppy Cup
Droopys Loner, Arc
Express Trend, Golden Jacket
Rockview Sail, Coronation Cup
Ballymac William, Prestige

And, theyre only the ones i can remember! Cry

£325 down on the year, never been in the red at this stage before since keeping records about 5 years ago. Eske would claw back £52, but i honestly cant see it happening

poor old woodySad

I do feel that maybe you go for the obvious a bit though woody
even if you get the best price available...there is not a lot of scope for value
because what you see....so does everybody else

I am not sure that laying Frankel on Wednesday
was the best time to break the habit of a lifetime thoughConfused

I hope Ballymac Eske wins for you at lastHappy

Cheers Gery. Think i'm just luckless this year. As mentioned on another thread had problems with car, which i've just found out is beyond economical repair! LaughCry

Oh Tobe, think youre missing the point. Value or not who in their right mind wouldnt want 9/2 about an evens shot in a final? The percentages simply say i should have had far more winners than i have, considering the short odds. Like i say, luckless

Oh, ps. Car got a reprieve, i'm mobile again.

Hope Eske connections go the Derby next year, as i'm holding tickets at 33/1 and 50/1. Would be hoping just to keep qualifying, with good middle draw and one of his decent breaks in the final

Well done Woody, a winner at last. However, I am slightly surprised you never had your maximum of £50 on the dog considering the case you put up. You have let a tenner slip through your fingers there.

In the region of £25 is a large bet for me Safari. Only ever gone the £50 maximum twice. Different story with antepost but then i may have several dogs. Was into the English Derby to the tune of over £300, got it back on Blonde Snapper and £140 riding on the Irish Derby, got half the field left at this stage.

Anyway, i could be on a roll now, enter 16/1 Starmount Swift in the big one at Hove tonight! Wink
