BETFAIR ARE TRYING TO PROMOTE DOG RACEING ,ITS IN THE BETFAIR VIDEO ,THE FIRST THING THEY SHOULD DO IS MAKE SURE THERES SOME PRICES TO BET ON

It's not going to happen, like today for example, typical day,
you've got 2 races every 15 mins for nearly 12 hours.
About 100 races, there is only a few mins on these dog markets.

I remember when I first started going dog racing at Eastville Greyhounds, Bristol,
2 meetings a week, 8 races on a card.

No problem with Horse racing I am usually matched early morning

Used to price up every dog race , every day to 120% to lose £100 at 9 o'clock in the morning. When bots came in , I was topped up by .2 , then .4 as soon as I priced up . Then the £1.99 merchants started , then the 2p mob , then the prices that are there but not there began . In the end it wasn't worth my while putting in the work to pick up the scraps so I stopped.......for the record , Sunderland was the best for laying .

i'm baffled why we have to wait till just before the off to get a dog bet on, ok the bags can be a bit iffy if you're laying dogs but the opens all feature mostly well known dogs with plenty of form.
i like to lay favs on the open races but can't lay em till just before the race because if you put in a lay early doors then as eyeball correctly states above someone goes .2 or .4 above your lay straight away and as eyeball says it's for £1.99 or less, this scenario is damaging the dog markets and betfair need to look at it.

I find the liquidity increases very little
suggesting everybody who was going to bet has bet

I think the answer was in first few replies
far too many BAGS races and too little liquidity
very few people put the effort into pricing a market
there are very few good BAGS judges

On Sky nights markets are up early morning because they are open races
more interest and more liquidity

the bookmakers dont lay early prices BAGS either do they
Ladbrokes will put their own prices at Crayford earlier than the normal
3 minutes before the off, usually circa 8 mins...if you can get on with them

and the punters in the shops tend to bet just before race for BAGS
they dont sort their bets out early morning like horse punters
except for open races of course

the first step to getting BAGS b/f markets earlier
is to to get bookies to put their prices up earlier than 3 mins before off
because some people like me like to compare the two

Professional Trainer Mr Simon Deakin was found in breach of rules 152(i) and (ii) and 184B(i) and Mr Ian Woodworth was found in breach of rules 152 (i) and (ii), rules 152(i) and (ii), 174 (v) and 184B(ii) of the GBGB rules of racing into the fact that Mr Deakin had layed bets on two greyhounds in his care and that Mr Woodworth, a kennelhand employed by Mr Deakin, had layed bets on numerous greyhounds in his care

The initial betting analysis did not highlight any suspicious activity on the part of Mr Deakin or Mr Woodworth. A formal request for information was made to Betfair by the GBGB under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This information was shared with the GBGB on 11 November 2011. This revealed that Mr Deakin had layed two greyhounds under his control (AERO FLASH and ROYAL CHAMPION) to lose the sums of £2 and £40 respectively, and that Mr Woodworth had layed a number of greyhounds while under his care as a licensed kennelhand, for sums ranging from £100 to £8.


So there you are .... the real layers, the ones really in the know, the owners, trainers and kennel hands run the risk of initiating a request under the MoU, a big fine and a ban from the game. If there is a constant drift starting well before the off it sticks out like a sore thumb.

925, live on sky 2night. empty market because of nr at 730pm, at 830 i pricedit up to 110% with laibility of around 100 gbp per runner  and some1 put 3 quid infront of 4 of my 5 lays almost instantly.

this is why no1 is laying early.

maybe betfair could lower the commission for bets placed on the dogs 1 hour or earlier than the advertised race time, or failing that stop these penny backers and layers from being able to back and lay for buttons until say 10 minutes prior to the advertised race time, this would enable any backer or layer to put a decent bet onto the market without the penny merchants jumping the cue.

Isn’t it strikingly obvious that he reason the “layers” on here don’t price up early in the run of the mill BAGS races is this. The vast majority don’t have a clue what price a dog should be (the Racing post betting guide isn’t normally the best indicator of the actual price of a Dog) until the track book- makers open up then they can “top  up” on those track book-maker prices secure in the knowledge that they have no expenses to find, no homework to do, no need to sponsor races and can limit their liability to whatever they choose…..   simples!!!
