THE SERIES is callled "Greyhound Greats"

Half of it is devoted to Birchy himself, what an absolute To55er ...............

I really enjoyed reading it......

You can never have too many articles on past great "name" dogs to bring back happy/sad memories. Happy

I've never had a problem with Birchy....actually look forward to reading his articles.

Probably trying to 'even things up' with DJ after his remarks about Zafonic clearly injured in the Derby final!

i agree Irishone. Birch is a proper clown of a "journalist", there are 60 (weekly) articles, but I stopped reading after week 3, all his articles refer to him either directly or indirectly via his wife, neighbour, holiday etc and invariably refer to some monster gamble he pulled off years ago (yeh reckon), he knows little, and his analogies and comparisons are laughable and devalue the subject topics. His article on El Tenor took the biscuit, as did Some Picture, when describing his best runs at venues I wonder if Birch has ever seen the dog run in the flesh.

Absolute to55pot imho....so far up his own r s .... AND  tells lies as well

"Mary Harding trained one of the best staying bitches I've ever seen, First Defence, at that time. Also housed in her Burhill kennels was a slowcoach by the name of Graigue Punch. First Defence would have lapped him. After labelling the dog 'a camel', the owners sent me some light-hearted, computer-generated caricatures in defence of their beast. The pictures of me weren't flattering, but it was all done in great fun and I've still got their correspondence in my garage. Excellent banter.'Lacks a yard of top-class pace to the bend'. That's all I wrote. To this day, I still can't work out why the owner came up to me, and said, while removing his glasses: "Come on, outside. We'll settle this once and for all. My dog can't read, but I can." I stayed inside."

I wasnt wearing glasses Laugh

It's a game of opinions, hence we are posting on a P2P betting exchange!

I like one of the above posters really enjoy this series, especially as a lot of the dogs he writes about are from the time in the late 90's early 0's when I was Open Racing a lot.

I don't mind the fact he talks about his own punts on the dogs, why not! Nice to see Time N Tide mentioned in the article - loved that dog, also No Can Waltz.

Also enjoyed his El Tenor piece a while ago.

Happy Punting.

Read RP today at 9.30 am and only just stopped laughing sufficiently to log on here...

email letter in today's RP from a Sam Dunn..praising XXXXX for his Greyhound Greats series..says he would have tweeted XXXXX if he were on twitter to commend him.."I seek out Richard's work wherever I can" "not only is it superb factually, but it includes his personal involvement which I find fascinating" blah blah

Is 'Sam Dunn' one of you guys on the wind up?

if not I'd like to have the house on him to win the next Edinburgh festival.
