not to mention eden star's demise Cry
Report hunglikeadonkey April 30, 2012 6:05 PM BST
Taylors isnt very dependant on 1 imo
Paddy has never been a big contender for me.
JFK needs to break consistently well...dont all of the pacey dogs?
Report irishone April 30, 2012 6:35 PM BST
I dont think taylors would have won last year without the draw
Just dont know with Paddy
agree about all pacey dogs but JFK is one of the favs

The only rag that's going to be waved is the white one hills as for laying JFK at 50s!!!ExcitedLaugh

before the comp started i had 2 dogs in mind to keep, the 2 favs, i even asked hills for the reverse forcast of sky and jfk that convinced.  I just think they were a different breed and the times posted in the various trials and pre comp races pleased me greatly.

got carried away and way overbet bert when he won his big race at 20's.  Sad  hoping for one more big run to get stake back as the trade opt looks gone.

Added eden when he went to 16's for a trade... thought that was a little big and laid off a bit when shorter  before disaster.

i got on bubbly p at 34 and off now at 10's  nice free bet.

havent touched tynwald bolt, into 5 figs now.  Hoping it wasnt a fluke.

think sid and allstar are big now looking at my time sheets and next round draw.

one or 2 large priced dogs take my fancy, but have gone against most ot the others and days like these when a real large green contender goes are horrible.  Looking at those large reds.

if hills had offered more than 25/1 for my forcast, i would have had some on that.  I still think those two.

A few 200. 250 shots look big, maybe not winning it but for a trading opt.  Some 250 shots id lay at 1000, id beat them round there.

Not too familiar with Lanza, Addy. Is he for real? He talks a good play but he must have unlimited funds when he's talking about laying 250/1 and 1000/1 shots.

Now i've probably made a fool of myself, to answer Irishone's question, yes deffo wide open. Taylors Sky and JFK certainly worthy of heading the market but a whole host of other contenders breathing down their neck.

You would probably have to go up to 40/1 to more or less cover the eventual winner but last year remember, Taylors Sky still hadnt come to the fore, so you never know what's lurking. Very early days yet

i have no idea who lanza is, could be a cross dresser could be as barking as you for all i know woody, but we had some banter when he took my 30 quid laying apache at 200 as he thought he tried to lay it accidentally at that price not knowing he had been disqualified.

unlimited funds not necessary, if youve done an antepost book and laid the favs last few months before you know it others runners winning you thousands, if you have one winniing 10 grand as a result you can lay a tenner at a thousand and its cost you nothing.
Report Catford Toteboard May 1, 2012 1:36 PM BST
Lanza offered to lay us to £10,000 last year but we delcined.
I too think it is wide open and I would love to have to been laying the top four in the market for the last few months. Now I'm just glad I didn't back any of them Happy.
Paddy, Bolt and Lorenzo interest me now.

lol  cross dresser.  haha.  Alittle mad maybe. Laugh

been doing this market quite abit since just before x-mas,  small book up til then from when it opened a week after last years finished.

Had built up some green on apache, laying the field, proper panicked when i saw 200/1 for 30 quid for the dog.. Thought on no, what have i done,  instead of looking for it and cancelling it, (in which time it could have been taken) i decided to what i thought i was doing and self match it, and then wanted to put in 30/1 for 200 quid looking for a backer.   It got matched but then it wasnt mine.  It was our friend addy's and apache was now winning 1000's more,  But he had already been disqualified. i didnt know.  haha.

Hows the dog catford?  i noticed it beat a few dogs currently entered in the comp some time ago.

Hi folks, what dogs would people consider to be most likely to last through the rounds? Who are the dogs that are strongest at the finish?

I'm of the opinion Eden Star wouldnt have lasted the rounds and if he had made the final would have been picked up on the run-in.

Cheers
Report woodmanchester May 2, 2012 5:47 AM BST
Monsieur Bond, getting even a finalist from just 2 or 3 selections isnt easy and think youve missed the boat, in as much as bookies were paying 6 places each-way before the first round. However, for what it's worth, i would suggest Essex Vase winner Westmead Maldini is always likely to run through beaten dogs to qualify, Arc winner Ballymac Cryan, who keeps going well and the fine all-rounder and strong on the bunny Jazz Apollo, if getting rails draws, could all vie for a place in the final come the semis May 19th.

Good luck

I thought Maldini, Cryan and Apollo where the ones at big prices that could go deep in the competition with a bit of luck due to their running style

There are plenty who the trainer thought would do well to squeeze thru a round or two, they'll be giving them the live one this week, there are those that are thought to be  bound to get to the quarters and more than likely beyond, these trainers wont be hard on them this week, saving some. The danger is that the former will get out a lot quicker and the latter will be average away and it'll be bye bye.

monsiuer bond - shelbourne geoff - ive added him now think he can go very deep, was showing mental pace to the third last week and stayed on again when getting a run.

Report Addy_D May 2, 2012 9:19 PM BST
still dont geoff can beeat the top 6 or 8 dogs in a clean run race but i can definitely see him reaching the final with luck and as we all know, not all derby finals are clean run races.
