Walked into Billy Hills at 8pm, looked at the Greyhound Derby heat prices and couldn't believe price on Bubbly Phoenix in 8.15, he was priced up at 5/1 so I had £20 on, checked early results in case of track bias and no bias so had another £30 on.

Happy day when he romped clear but when I went to collect "my" £300 I was told price taken was a mistake and I would be settled at SP. 4/7

Let's just say I wasn't pleased and I'm now barred from my local Billy Hills..... at least I had a result there then

i understand the infamous 'palpable error' rule but a couple of things spring to mind   a) shudnt someone in the massive hills network have noticed, or does literally everyone countrywide have no clue what they are doing?   b) i imagine there is some kind of net that shud catch the underround books?     by the way walt... the first 20 was a little gunshy!!  ;-D

You knew it was a palpable error, it hardly drifted from 8/13 to 5/1.
You chanced your arm and it didn't work.

As much as i don't like picking up for bookmakers come on you can't be seriously moaning they didn't pay you 5/1.

pf. do u think the 8/1 we took on droopys casanova cud have been considered a palpable on last years greyhound derby final card? for me - and i know maybe the majority disagree, if hills screw up - trader error or system error, then they shud stand by what they do. somebody of their thousands of staff shud have known this was a mistake. if bookies want to pay crap wages and not employ any 'experts' they shud pay the consequences when mistakes are made.... imo

I don't know to be honest mate as i can't remember the exact market. I'm near sure they had it priced to around 120 odd% and when we punted Casanova they cut him into 7/2.

In this case though i think it is clear that it was a mistake as the dog was best priced 8/13 during the day. I'd love to know what the prices where in that shop on the other runners? Was the overround under 100% or did somebody inputting the information put the wrong prices beside the wrong runners.

I also think they should be made suffer for their mistakes, however there are rules in place to get them out of their fack ups and we know that so we know what to expect when it's clearly a palpable error.
